Browse forums once a month. Lurk in IRC and never talk. Play lots of WoW.

Randomly post at least once every 3 months.

ZOMG I'm posting.

Yes I'm still absorbed in the WOW monster. If you happen around and update that list again, I play Stormreaver Alliance. You can find me alternately as Fianor, Fiorna, Finri, Finori, or Finyori. (And I even have other low level alts)

If anyone does feel like rerolling Stormreaver Alliance, I will happily twink you to the max and power level you whenever I can, and I can almost guarantee I'll get you a spot in my guild, which is one of the top on the server (farming all the high end instances, killing Nef, that sort of crap)

Isamil is also in my guild by the way, under the not so surprising name of Isamil.

Hi LM people, by the way. :D

TheAdj is actually a shortened form of Adjudicator, which is pretty much a fancy synonym of judge.  I picked it up from StarSiege, one of the cybrid hercs was the adjudicator.
You know, I always though adjective for some reason?

Grumble grumble more work for Bob grumble grumble...

I feel where you're coming from man, I've been there too many times. I'm sure we can manage to hold things in place until such time as you feel like dealing with it again, however long that takes. Chill for a while.

Or even better, I'd assume since you guys are having such an issue with it, others are as well.. How about a "please fix this portion of the map" thread on that way it gets fixed , the mapper gets some much needed feedback and you don't have to remove the map at all :)

Yeah that's where I've been too. Anyone on Stormreaver? I've got a level 60 human mage on there. It's slowly starting to wear down on the interest scale though. We'll see how things look over the next couple weeks. I do feel like I've been neglecting NS and my home here at LM too much though. Hell, you leave for a couple months and people forget you exist!

The one im thinking of is similar but you have the black bishop at C5 and the black queen at  F2....anyone know what that is called?
I always thought that what you describe was a fool's mate as well. You'd have to be playing someone really stupid for them to end up in the position in your picture.

That's usually my tell on whether someone is a good chess player or not, if they move any pawns besides the king's and queen's within the first eight moves or so. It either means they're clueless at how to handle something as simple as the opening, or that they're very very good and about to try something totally wild that will wipe the floor with me. Almost always, sadly, it's the former.

Tis just the nature of the beast I think. You have to look at the reason why people who write these programs do what they do. Commercial developers write to make money. You make money by being as attractive as possible to the greatest number of people. And the fact is that a majority of the people in the world care more about things like ease of use and pretty interfaces than about powerful functionality.

On the other hand, open source developers are writing code for themselves and no one else. The oss mantra is pretty much 'this is what I like, and if you wanna mess around with it too, feel free'. There's nothing wrong with either of these approaches, and comparing them is an exercise in futility, because they're just not even working in the same worlds. This is why the hordes of sweaty geeks posting on slashdot "Micro$oft sucks! Linux will rule the world!" need to put up or shut up. Sure linux et al. are attractive to a limited segment of technical people, but without a lot of polish and simplification of basic functions, it's not going to ever amount to anything that the huge mom and pop and granny segment are going to use. And the very nature of open source software means that there can't ever be a monetary reward, and thus no reason to shine up the software to attract mom and pop. Oh what a painful and twisted world we live in!

Textures: Make sure you don't have something already selected unless you want to texture the whole thing. (Probably not even then, that's how you end up accidentally texturing tiny edges and stuff that should be nulled anyway) Bring up the texture application tool. Hide mask because it's annoying. Click the side you want to texture. Ctrl+click to select more things. Find the texture you want and apply, then stretch twist and mangle until it looks good.

Entities: They are cool things that do cool things. Pretty much anything that's not world geometry is an entity. There's a ton of them and they all do different things. Spawn points, for example, are info_player_start entities. (but that's for the RR, in the map you use info_team_start ents) Entities make lights, sounds, particles, special effects -- basically they bring you map to life. They are awesome, and the entity limit is the limit you'll curse most in your map, because it crushes your dreams and spits on them. Oh and brushwork (world geometry) can be tied to entities too to make geometry that does stuff. Func_breakable for something that can be broken for example.

Chopping? Clipping maybe? If it's the clip tool, you use that to cut up world geometry. You do this in order to add doors, or so you can manipulate your boring walls into interesting architecture, or so you can texture only parts of an area, etc.

Paths... don't even worry about that for now, just focus on making those rooms that aren't big boxes.  :D
