A plee to the commanders on this server. If someone requests ammo and you see them under attack, PLEASE don't just shower down ammo packs. You are allowed to drop things that aren't requested and i know you're watching because i've just got 250 ammo  in my lmg. If you see a marine under attack againist skulks always throw a few med packs down!

I always ask afterwards and everyone is like 'you didn't ask for meds'  :huh:

Regardless of the call, look at where they're at. If they ar ein SL on eclipse, drop ammo and a few meds. Trust me, they'll be needing it...

I never drop more than 1 ammo pack unless requested, or unless I see that the player will sure be needing a lot of ammo (hive shotty rush, or some guy camping a hallway). Always, always, I drop more meds than ammo. They simply are better... 0 ammo and 100 health is a lot better than 250 ammo and 0 health

2 tips

-ammo is cheap (1 rp per pack) don't be stingy with it
-bind a key to 'Select all marines' , i use mousewheel. it helps you monitor your marines health and give meds accordlingly (btw,that's also why everyone gets waypoints everywhere, when i'm really just giving it to the current flex marine; I"m always selecting all to monitor marines).

How does selecting everyone help you dish out health and meds? Or does it just show the little circle that shows the status of their health around them (that green thingie)?

Green = 2 bites. Yellow and red = 1. Yellow takes one med to green and red takes 2. ALWAYS MED!!!!!  :huh:

i usually go with "you get 1 ammo/kill", depending. if the person is earning a res tower or pg, i'll be nicer with the ammo =x but i rarely give it out in mroe than sets of 2, people tend to die by the time they're out of ammo(no armor, basically death waiting to happen)

The giving of ammo isn't the issue, this thread is mroe aimed at helping the commanders. Just because only an ammo pack was requested doesn't mean you cannot drop meds if a guy is under attack when you get round to dropping him his ammo.

Rule of thumb for medpacking:

If said group or individual is
1) an advantageous spot to harass or hold
2) likely to survive
 i) due to skill
 ii) due to aliens being dead and far far away

Then medspam.
Or if:
1) The marines are there BECAUSE YOU GAVE THEM AN ORDER TO BE THERE, then BLOODY WELL MEDSPAM THEM (argh, sorry, pet peeve there).

Select all and observing marines as they move around is your best ability as the commander.  That's all I will say.

Depending on the mood Im in, Either I drop hella loads of medpacks, that could end the apacolisp. Or I drop 1 or 2 when the person is already dead a bit to the left.
