I think de_inferno should be placed in the mapcycle, it's a good map, one of the better looking CS examples, and it's a standard map.

Maybe some Admin/Moderator can turn this thread into a poll...?

I think your being really unfair, considering they are two different types of games. I have seen the best maps CS has to offer and some of the worst. I think a statement like that is uncalled for! You owe a lot of hardworking mappers an apology!

Yeah, the maker of de_even_hldm_default_maps_don't_look_this_bad.bsp is right outside and he's waiting for you to say you're SORRY!

Teehee, apologies, but honestly. Look at the default map rotation that comes with the NS download. Then look at the same with CS. There is absolutely no contest.

you're basing NS which is like a multi person extremely team driven game against CS a rambo bunny hopping game.

NS maps have to be pretty and complex, who would want to play in a big open room full of aliens and marines?

And besides most people who play CS aren't looking for pretty textures or anything like that, they just want death and destruction..  And to see how many nade kills they can get with one HE.

Nay, I don't buy that excuse. An NS map can be incredibly simple and ugly and still fun. (co_sillyv3, the MvM proof of concept, is the perfect example) Likewise I'm sure a CS map can be a lot more detailed and involved and still play just fine. It's just that NS puts a much higher importance on their maps being near works of art before they allow them in. Just go walk around an NS map by yourself sometime and REALLY LOOK at the detail. It's quite incredible. Even the most seemingly simple square corridor has rounded out walls, or pipes running along the ceiling, or a slightly raised floor with recessed lighting, or something.

If I were so inclined I might try and make a really nice looking involved CS map, but first I've got to get my board back so I can even access my old HD and then I'll probably want to finish my co map first....

Honestly how many people do you think play CS and make maps?

And then how many people play NS and make maps?

That should give you some idea why the CS community is flooded with crappy maps, and horrible remake maps.

Yus but ns_siege00794534525 would NEVER make official status. Every mod's got it's crappy looking but fun maps.

Generally speaking, isn't it easy to find quality in a larger quantity?

Also, I am not talking about custom maps, I am talking about official maps. NS doesn't allow crappy maps to go into their releases, hell you should see all of the horrible maps for NS. It is much harder to make a map for NS than it is for CS, mainly because you have to have it quite larger and take into account that its melee vs range.

I don't think much work is put into any CS map, except for the vehicles(even though the vehicles get stuck from driving them), but I've seen more work put into a crappy Warcraft 3 map than most CS maps :p. Not that hard to make a map with two spawn points, hostages, and two-three entrances to get to the hostages.

Also just because it looks like crap doesn't mean it isn't fun, I mean I loved playing the ns_siege map, even though it had like 3 textures total, too bad LB took it off because it crashed the server too much and people would change it to that map and the server would empty out :(. Ninjafall, or something like that, was fun too, even though it lacked any detail at all, it was still fun to play because it was a non-traditional map.

Even if most fun maps looked pretty they would rarely go official for any serious mod, because then it ruins the atmosphere of the game. But simpler maps which all follow the same basic types of layout should be made to look much better, because if you only have to choose left or right wouldn't you want the person playing it to go "woah, this map looks awesome! I'm gonna go the way with the orange fog instead of the way with the dripping water and puddles"
