Night, did the mouse come with an optional USB port connector? Because on my borther's optical, the mouse acted psycho without being plugged into the USB.
...

Also, Logitech has some really funky settings that may be causing the hyperactive sensitivity. One of the settings is Mouse Acceleration. I didn't notice it, but when my friend sat down to play some NS, he kept whipping about like a madman. After shooting ..
thanks for you help path, but a few notes
-the CRAZY sensitivity is actually on my boomslang, and i fixed that :) with ti's own nifty drivers
-the mouse has a usb and a mouse. i tried both. the usb is only for laptops, apparently, and when i plug it in, only the kb works

I still use a corded microsoft mouse with 2 buttons, a mouse wheel, and a mouse ball.  I always have trouble with opticals, always.  One problem is if I need to lift up the mouse and put it down on the other side, the mouse still tracks movement up to an inch away from the pad.  Thats REALLY annoying.

Meh, mine doesn't track past about 5 millimeters. Plus, if your sensitivity is sorta high, you never need to.

kinda late for this but going back to bob mentioning the mouse mucking up when you move the mouse too fast... it happens to ball mice too =P

I was playing 'spank the monkey' where you basically have to whip the mouse across the screen as fast as possible and it gives you the speed you hit spank (the monkey ^^ ).  Course above a certain speed the optical mouse went nuts and the arrow didn't follow my movement properly.  In frustration I took it out and plugged in a ball mouse and.... it did exactly the same thing o.O
Fine for normal mousey speeds but for the silly speeds I was whipping the mouse at neither the ball nor optical could handle it.  Mind you this is my current optical mouse we're talking about which is now 4-5 years old =3

i have the MX500 - i really like it(it's just a cordless version of 700/900). havent had any problems with it. you could take a look at Microsofts newest mouse(explorer 5 or so), quite sexy it is - you can even get a leather version

this is the .44 Wand, the most powerful wand in the world, so did I fire 5 or 6 fireballs? Now you got to ask yourself one question pal, do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Sorry, only advice I can give is to stay away from wireless stuff when it comes to gaming, and buy high quality input devices, such as my MS Internet MultiMedia Keyboard and my MS Intellmouse 5 button optical mouse, both of them work like a charm.

I will never get a wireless mouse and/or keyboard for gaming. Given my luck, the batteries would fail right when I'd have the chance for the best kill in the game.

However, wireless is very good for casual use, when timing isn't necessary and if a battery fails, it's no big deal to go replace it.

My girlfriend Nikkie has wireless both (Logitech), and it's really fun to just sit on her bed and type and chat with friends online while surfing.

However, I need to go to my laptop and its 2 year old opitcal corded mouse (touchpads can burn) when I want to play. I'm too paranoid to use the wireless mouse and keyboard when I care about the integrity of my Soviet base or my rushing Marines (I'm an avid Red Alert 2, Civilization III, StarCraft fan).

And yes, yell at me for having a laptop and wanting to game on it. I don't care. It may have been more expensive than a desktop of the same features, but the ability to just up and move it with no effort is key to me in a college setting. I wouldn't want to try the same with a desktop.

i had a wireless keyboard and mouse, and I game  everyday, its 10x better then my wired mouse, I always hated the mouse wire dragging, this way i have free movment and nothing to mess me up, and the batteries don't die every week like people make it seem, I use my mouse atleast 8 hours a day or more, and I need to replace them every month or so, for 7 dollars i get 6 months of mousing.... ot 3 months if i count in my keyboard

and we need to sign a petition for them to make a Max Payne 2 mouse pad, the first one is the greatest mouse pad ever,

IMO wireless = completely pointless... I'm not going to carry my mouse and keyboard outside my room. Hell it'll never leave the desk. Why people fork out $60 for a wireless keyboard... I'll never know.
I *ugh* agree with *argh* Uranium. *sob*

 ;)

Wireless keyboards are just pointless. Wireless mice would be neat (no cord interfering with your movements), if you didn't have to change the batteries all the time. And if the batteries weren't so GODDARNED HEAVY.

Meh okay:

1) I use a wireless mouse because the cords are so damned short.

Eh? The cords on my keyboard and mouse are longer then my monitor cables, and they're both incredibly common brands (The Microweb Intersoft Exploder keyboard or whatever and the Intellisoft Exploder 5 button thinger). Hell I had to put the keyboard where it is simply because my MONITOR wouldn't stretch any farther.

2) I don't like the cord getting caught up in things.

Solution: Unplug your mouse, drag the cord completely out, then replug it in on top of all the other cords. Tadah, it will never get stuck on anything anymore.

*Shrug*

the 700MX has it's own charger, no batteries to switcheroo. it seems to be working ok, still feels kinda funny. i think mainly due to the lack of friction between this uber pad and the mouse..

i guess a full charge, and move the RF receiver from the monitor and pretty much everything else seems to have helped..

Boat anchor my boy, boat anchor. Battery switchoring is the lesser of the two evils. I bet your mouse is a good deal heavier than my MX310. Which I love. So far, I haven't been able to move it fast enough for the laser to miss. Either I'm way slow (might explain why I use high sensitivities) or the mouse is neat.
