so i got the nifty new Logitech Cordless KB and mouse with super fast MX RF technology!! i thought that all the complaints about it laggin was noticed only by the uber leet..
sadly, i was wrong. it seems to lag a hella lot, and sometimes gets stuck..

anyone have a wireless? or any clues on how to get working smoother?

Sadly, I don't have any easy fixes for you. This is why I have shied away from wireless, is exactly these fears. Optical is bad enough (if you move it fast enough, it hardly picks up the movement at all). I'm starting to think that for gaming, a corded mouse with a regular mouseball instead of optical technology is really the way to go. Sometimes new technology is not the best! =(

yea stay away from the cordless... no easy fixes - other than Mobile phones can screw it up - keep them away if you're not already doing so...

about Optical, i dunno, i havent noticed(it might just be me who doesnt move his mouse so fast) - but i've heard something about it being a tad laggy yea

Tis true! Just take your optical mouse and move it back and forth across your pad really really fast. You'll notice the mouse cursor moves a few inches back and forth and that's it!

Due to my desk configuration, I have only about 2/3rds of my mousepad, turned LENGTHWISE to work with. And I like to play on low sensitivity too! So I find myself trying to whip about a lot and running into this problem. I keep cranking up my sensitivity, but that plays merry hell with my aim. Le sigh.

Apparently not all optical mice suffer this problem, as I did just that and the cursor behaved exactly as it should have.

only the older models of optical mice tend to suffer that problem, as the newer ones take far more pictures per second. I have one of the older ones :/

i have the brand spanking new logitcech 700 MX thingymabobber.. well, i'm getting a super duper mouse pad thingy.. hopefully it'll help?

and yes bob, it's quite slow on the lm boards.

That may be teh case, hunzie. It's a microsoft basic 5 button optical, I guess I have had it for about a year or so now... maybe tis time to start looking for a new one.

I have a Logitech cordless/wireless mouse, and I don't notice anything wrong with its preformance. I was having a whole slew of problems with it right off though, and boy was that alot of fun. Sometimes, the mouse would act unresponsive, other times, the mouse would skip or jump constantly. There were many other smaller problems too, and after a bunch of attempted fixes, it began to work fine when I just replaced my mouse pad.

Appearantly, it likes my new Blue Man Group mousepad, and I haven't had any serious problems since. The thing eats batteries like all hell though, so a fair warning to ya Night.

hm.. yeah, that's EXACTLY what's happening to me, unresponsive, laggin right out, really weird behaviour... so you say just getting a new mouse pad worked eh?

oh, and the MX700 has it's own recharging station, so no worries

Yeah, a new mouse pad solved all my worries. As far as I can tell, the mice really like plain, lightish colored pads. Mine has a big huge face on it, so in certain spots (in the corners) it will act really funny still. A plain neutral gray pad should work marvelously.

it makes the mouse movement SUUUPER smooth, so far tracking is ok. but the way th emouse just glides off the pad, like there is almost no friction, is really nifty.

will prolly mess up my gaming tho :S

IMO wireless = completely pointless... I'm not going to carry my mouse and keyboard outside my room. Hell it'll never leave the desk. Why people fork out $60 for a wireless keyboard... I'll never know.

Uranium, sometimes it's needed. In my case, I had to mauver my cord so much to get to my mouse pad, I had a whole half an inch of cord to move my mouse before the cord would get caught and the mouse would snap out of my hand. Not very good for my aim, nor my anger. I understand the keyboard too, as it too might have its uses.

There are plenty of reasons to go wireless on something. The main reason, IMO, is that cords on mice and keyboards are too damn short. If I wanted to use my keyboard while lying on my bed instead of sitting in my anti-ergonomical buttocks-torturing chair, I couldn't, because the cable connecting it to the back of my computer is like a foot long at most.

And the ever-tangled too-short mouse cord is something else that gets on my nerves.

the point of a wireless mouse is simple, no wire, so you don't have length problems, you don't have a cord dragging or getting stuck on somthing, i have a microsoft intelimouse wireless, and I have never had a problem with it, i replace the batteries every month or so, and i use the max payne mousepad that i got with max payne

OMG OMG Leader I have the same mouse pad. You can be my mouse pad buddy. It's gotten awfully faded and crappy looking since though. They should have released a new mouse pad with Max Payne 2. Like... updated with the new havok physics engine so you can drop it on the floor and it looks just like a real mouse pad falling on the floor... or something... yeah.

Night, did the mouse come with an optional USB port connector? Because on my borther's optical, the mouse acted psycho without being plugged into the USB. Also, on my friends, plugging it into the mouse socket made it work, but plugging it into the USB made it go insane. Don't know if that has anything to do with your problems, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Also, Logitech has some really funky settings that may be causing the hyperactive sensitivity. One of the settings is Mouse Acceleration. I didn't notice it, but when my friend sat down to play some NS, he kept whipping about like a madman. After shooting everything on the screen but what he was trying to aim at, he made me look for the settings in the 'mouseware' taskbar helper and disable it.
