um, my favorite map is NS_

actually, if i had to pick one, i'd say ns_agora.  I'm not really sure why, i just like it.  I think my gamma got adjusted up a while back though, but i'm not sure.

As much as I really really really don't like the doors in marine start, ns_eclipse is still a very solid map. It isn't so large that it's a pain to traverse for either team, but it isn't cramped so close together that there's no room for movement without confrontation. Two other very close maps are ns_hera and ns_tanith, and the only map I don't really care for on the list is ns_metal.

Yeah, eclipse is good, but too bad they didn't take out the do doors like they promised. :(

Blame Mr.Ben for not making a version that compiled right early enough for it to be released with b5. And if you see him on IRC, be sure to harass him about fixing the vents in veil to be big enough for skulks to fit in. I'm sure he doesn't know about it and would appreciate you pointing it out to him.  >:D

It might not be the best for gameplay, but Agora pwns me.

Ayumi? OVERATED. Gameplay is horrible, the corridors are mostly boring and lifeless... ugh.

Lies, ayumi is pretty. It's just pain on fades and JPs because of all the little details. And it's a bit alien sided. Needs to be updated and have the silly gorges hideout res node removed.

Yeah, what bob said...ayumi would have gotten my vote if it had been there.  I don't care that it kills the super overpowered fades or the jetpackers that can get on top of every hive...and even build on one.  It has PLENTY of res nodes near MS, marines easily have a chance even with the vast spread of the map.

I haven't played the new lost, but the old lost was EXTREMELY unbalanced.  Marines have 2 nodes near MS, and no others without a very long jog.  Even with the best comms, they could never win without a relocation...which usually ended in a long and drug out game.  I did love relocating on that map though...especially to the siege room, but now that the glass is breakable...meh.

I'd like to review every map, but I'm not going to.

I've had a lot of great games on ns_nothing, and it's the most fun for me to perma-gorge on it. Granted it is a large map, and the elevators hinder movement more than help, it's still very solid.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have ns_ayumi. I honestly don't beleive anyone enjoys this map for the gameplay; It has a few pretty hallways, like the snow between marine start and AE35 hive, and it has the "OGM CATBUS!!11oneleven!" secret room. I think the gameplay is horrible; Marines have too many easily-defendable seige locations outside of hives (A skulk spawning in AE35 has a 0% chance of survival because of that long hallway), movement around the map for an Onos is a pain because of the many small corridors, and most of the vent systems that could lead to a possible ambush location against marines are weldable. Plus, if the marines set up the node in the gorge's hideout and electrify it, they've effectivly cut off movement through that vent for any passing skulks.

Oh, I forgot about veil. Silly people don't fix the vent in over several builds. Psh...

I voted eclipse, but I'm not sure why. It just seems to have good games and it looks pretty good. Very within the scope of good NS "Look and Feel". I like all the maps though, it's nice to have so many base maps in the rotation that I don't get so burned out on any one of them. Why quibble too much about best when the average quality is so good, that 10 choices for best map was not enough? Thanks to the LM members involved in the mapping (2 by my very unofficial and ill-informed count) for all the great variety the dev team as delivered for maps! ;)

ns_eclipse was the first map that I ever played NS on. Some of my best games have been played on that map <3

Mine was either Eclipse or Hera, and one of them got my vote bigtime.

If you're gonna redo the vote at least wait for people who browse a little less often to vote. My second vote would've gone to Lost or Nothing. I think for a map to get my vote they have to have an immersive atmosphere (that comment immediately gives away which map I voted for).

Anyway why isn't Richmond on there ;)
