Off Topic / Your Name

We all have interesting pseudo-names here.  I was wondering if anybody would mind sharing where they got theirs from, or possibly how to pronounce it correctly.

Krytos is that name of a plague in Book 3 of the X-Wing series.  See the book here!

I needed a new internet name and was reading the book at the time, and I liked that whole series.  I thought Krytos sounded cool, so I started using it and its stuck with me since.

I've always pronounced it as "cry" + "toast" - the last "T"  Since I didn't make the word up, its possible its pronounced differently.

Anybody else have a story behind their name?

I hear that if you dig a hole big enough so that a cup or bowl's top is just at the surface and then put beer in the cup that slugs will fall in, and not be able to get back out.  My friend who told me about this wants to try it with a swimming pool.  He thinks his neighbors will be filling the pool, and not slugs.

Ragdoll physics done right.

Could be a major buff to Onos charge.  Imagine seeing fellow marines fly around a corner and spaltter on the wall.  Now that would make anyone fear the 3 hive Onos again.

General / Tip for shooting for marines?

Have a friend meet you on some random empty server, or over LAN and practice together.  Don't get upgrades for either of you.  Pick a map and room and keep meeting up in there.  Switch back and forth between who is marine and who is a skulk.  Once you get good at vanilla vs vanilla, throw some upgrades in.  

It helps alot if your friend is better than you, and can give you tips as you go.

This helps with both ambush training, and aiming.  I believe I did this in Upper Sewer on ns_caged.  After a while we moved on to fade vs shotty JP in Stability.  Lots of fun.

Not directed at you, as I can't remember you comming me ever, but just a general com tip

PAY ATTENTION TO TEXT!!!!

Some marines can't use voice com for whatever reason.  It is very frustrating when standing guard at an open RT for a whole minute, spamming "request order" and typing "RT HERE COM!!!" to have a guy walk up, say "Drop me this RT com" on voice com, and he gets it instantly. /rant.

I say keep it.  It's part of what makes LM what it is.  There are very few servers out there with FF on, and it seems to me that those servers tend to have better quality players.  The aliens being able to MC rush a hive should be an issue for the devs like someone else already stated.  Unless that is, they WANT the aliens to be able to do that.  Maybe that is why the feature is in.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

As for the marines, GL spam is a very dangerous thing with FF on.  I hate GL spam, both as marine and alien.  I think it is fairly lame.  FF keeps the GLs in check.  

Again, I say keep it.
