I hear that if you dig a hole big enough so that a cup or bowl's top is just at the surface and then put beer in the cup that slugs will fall in, and not be able to get back out.  My friend who told me about this wants to try it with a swimming pool.  He thinks his neighbors will be filling the pool, and not slugs.
