this sounds cool , i might actually get it :p

Edit : I have to uninstall IE first?
IE is an integrated part of windows, so no, you don't need to uninstall. Unless of course you're using the mac or linux version, then do so if you wish.

Otherwise, Firefox will detect if it's the default browser, tell it yes, and all your programs will remember it as such. Now mIRC etc open links in firefox, not IE. :)
Hint: Use Guided Mode for helpful prompts

Eh... BM can't count. It's .8

I'm of the hardcore group that sticks with the actual 'mozilla' browser instead of the more pretty firebird/firefox browser. I know they're almost the same, but mozilla has a silghtly more in-depth/slightly less user-friendly interface, which appeals to the geek in me.

IE is like a virus... you can't uninstall it.

One measly ad banner isn't a good reason to poo-poo a browser. You aren't going to catch the plague from looking at an ad here and there.

Now if I could only configure mIRC to launch links in Opera my life would be complete.

AAAHHH!!! MY HAND!!! THE PLAGUE!!!!

~ahem~
anyways, I'm pretty sure you can get rid of the google bar... damned if i actually remember how but I have a vague memory of fiddling with it in the past ^^;
I don't find it that bothersome anyways, in my setup it's just a tiny thing that sits at the end of the URL bar where the go button is usually wasting my space =D

Open the View menu, go to Toolbars, and then Customize.  A list of possible toolbar items will appear.  Drag the "Google thing" into this list.

Ah, so it's like mouse gestures for kids eh? Like with training wheels on? That's nice. I like being able to open windows in new tabs by right clicking the link and moving up, myself. And closing windows with down, left. And opening new windows with down. And going forward with right and back with left.

I now declare an argument over mouse gestures vs. radial context menus.

I now declare myself the winner of that argument.  :D

basically a mouse gesture works by you holding a mouse button and doing a movement, like down then to the left or up or right then down followed by you letting go of the button.  Each 'movement' or gesture is recognised for different actions like drawing an L with the mouse as your gesture could refresh the page for example.
Hope that's a clear enough explanation ^^;

see with radial context you have your mouse gestures
forward is right
back is left
scroll is down-left

but if you dont remember something (like copy) you just click and look for the icon. copy seems to be right when you are hovering over selected text, cut is left ... see, i didnt have to go through pages of text to figure those two out

Obviously you missed the part where I declared myself winner of the argument. Because my mouse gestures work without having a goofy little menu that pops up. So that means I look cooler. And that means I gets all da ladies.

You can't argue with that: ALL DA LADIES.

i've always thought that using the mouse for most things was eschewed (proper usage?) by most geeks... now you want me to use mouse gestures where i can use the keyboard?!?!?
