did you know that most net-nanny type software is considered spyware? and is deleted by ad-aware? 0_o

they still havent figured it out

it's a filter installed at the county, and then our connection goes thru the school district and then into the school, it has to be filtered at the county level or the district doesn't get federal funds...

If it works anything like mine, try a direct link to the forums.. using http://www.lunixmonster.org/forums/index.php should work..
I think any rejected sites are looked at on mine, and determined if they should be blocked.. Penny-Arcade was blocked for awhile, and now its not

Theres no way I know of to bypass it easily - Its not a "proxy", thats configured in ie... its something thats in between the routers and the network connection

Try bringing in Mozilla on a disk, see if that bypasses it

Ah yes Bess Proxy, my old foe. I have many a story fighting her, not many of them successful. However in my later years I have come up with some tricks to deal with that **** (really its a female dog in the picture)

First off, the fastest and simplest way would be to use something like proxify that gets you around her quickly and effectively.

The next trick would be to manually configure the ip address your computer goes through. Kind of like proxying a proxy. Just look for something like free proxy server on google and a lot of information will come up. Then put that into the options in IE and your home free.

The final trick is that bess doesn't block php boards. Using this you can get to the ns and lm boards with out any problems.

Those are my tricks for dealing with her, and the seem to work effectively. Good luck fighting her tak.

I'll have to try that sometime..
Although, I don't think any good sites are blocked..
I found them trying to block sites with a hosts file, which kinda disappeared right away (honestly, I don't know where it went :p )

and yeah, you *can* get to the /forums/index.php

and one of my nerd friends already has a cgi proxy hosted on his computer

not to mention the county techs are less than knowledgeable, and so like right now, the filter is down

Its not even worth trying to bypass the site filters at my school, the internet connection is just too teriible to want to go online sometimes.

Its funny though, despite their blocking methods, a lot of 'inappropriate' sites are easily accessible through Fark.com

However now we have the greatness that is the RM Safety Net Filter. My god that things good. It can even scan whats in PHP and filter.

BESS SUCKS!

I hate it! Our school gets pwnt by it....

In our computer classes we cant even do our work cause everything is fukin blocked.

Its impossible to bypass it becauase it gets sent to a bess box then it gets sent to the net:

Use proxify, posted above.. it works fine (My school may not be using that software, I get this annoying page, but not the one I saw above)

Now my school blocked webmail, because of some virus (which I have yet to get).. so I'm going to bring putty in, and check my email the hard way

Anyone know how to enable file and print sharing on a Win2k Comp, when I don't have access to the network control panel
I have a program that used to be able to launch control panels, but it doesn't work at my school now
