What to do if you think someone is cheating

Please see this, and follow the steps mentioned in it.

First, by cheating I mean you suspect aimbot/wallhacks.  If a person is speedhacking, go get an admin on IRC, speedhacking really isn't hard to detect.

So, someone is cheating.
What to do: (Follow in order)
*This assumes that there is no admin connected to the server.
*Go spec if you can, and noone else is there.  (You don't want to unbalance the teams, but if you can go spec with it only being like 5-6 or 5-4, then theres no problem)
*Record a demo. (record name)
*Preform these commands in your console
clear
status
condump
Don't do "clear;status;condump" because it won't work.
*Continue recording demo's, the more the better (within reason..)
*Zip, rar, or bz2 the demos.  Find the condump that was created.
*Paste the status part of the condump into an email, attach the file, give the message a name like ChanServ - cheater, and send it to darkmage AT snet D0T net


What not to do:
*Tell the person you think they are cheating.
*Mention to your teammates you think X is cheating
*Panic.
*Jump on IRC, and spam !admin multiple times
*Go spec if someone else is there. (If its a non-slotters you can)
*Break any rules.
*Send me demos of people you think that are wallhacking, when the only demo you send has the person with MT or SoF all the time.

After you have sent the demo, I'll look at it in a day or two, and you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Isn't admin beaconing the proper response to someone cheating?  If it's a speedhacker or blatant aimbot I don't need to go spec to know that it's happening.  If I've admin called and no one is on then yes, I will go through those steps, but we have rules against players specing under certain situations, and it isn't always possible to do fairly, as alot of the time when you play against a cheater, your team starts to leave.  If an admin is around they can deal with it alot better then I can.

yeah, I think dev's key thing was dont' spam the !admin thing.

And as HD pointed out yesterday, when an admin joins, be quiet about it.  Don't announce admin presence!!!

yea please guys. when an admin joins, just play normally and dont say a freaking word about it ever. say nothing. if say the person suspected is suspected of aimbotting, try to get celerity and flap/leap around the player to see if he/she tracks perfect or not. dont just do circles, change direction and stuff =p

for wallhackers, get silence and try to ambush someone. use thought and react to what the hacker will probably make a mistake with.

as for specs, one person has to spec. thats it. other people if anything should be playing normally and trying to enjoy themselves =p if an admin joins, just join up and play. (s)he will take care of it.

Generally I can just tell if I lerk and he LMGs me down in full flight without missing a shot.  I've played against delta players several times, and they don't hit me if I don't want them too.  Aimbots always hit.  180 snap kills are acctually pretty easy for good players to get, expecially with a shotty.  Speedhackers are always blatant as hell.

Anyways, I would take a demo any time admins aren't around, but if I find a hacker on LM I'm going to try an admin call first.  That's what it's there for.

For referance, admin call = 1 !admin, not multiple!

you're lucky you were only kicked.  Common practice is a 6 hour temp ban.

[edit] for the record this is why I never use !admin in the forums either, because although it is publicly open to use, it should only be used by those who know what it is.  Hence not passing it around in public view.

devnull's instructions are fine for the longterm, but simply don't make sense for immediate action.

If there is an aimbotter on the server, or some other major hack, he's ruining the game and we want him off the server NOW, not in a few days. Just like if there was a TKer running about killing every teammate in site, we would immediately do an admin highlight and get him dealt with. This is no different.
