Sorry for messing up by accidentally putting down SCs instead of DCs earlier in Metal today.  Then to add insult to injury I got slotted, and when I did manage to get back in, I ended up on marines.  

Is it truly bannable if someone was willing to switch teams with me?  I seriously wanted to go back on aliens and to go down with the team for my mistake.

don't worry about that so much, happens from time to time =] as for the switching thing,  its considered llama to switch mid-game yea, so if you get slotted just make do on the team you get stuck with, if you're on the winning side now, try to make it end faster. if you're on the losing side, go for a moral victory
