hmm, now if you follow a theory that is that Male geeks don't dance - it means that you're a girl!

btw how much did it cost - not that i want it. i just wanna know how much money you 'wasted' :p

this is the .44 Wand, the most powerful wand in the world, so did I fire 5 or 6 fireballs? Now you got to ask yourself one question pal, do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

lol, I consider it a well-spent £112 ^^

I love DDR, always have since I got my first shot back when I was 14.  I dragged one of the guys on despite him shrieking stuff like "OMG NO!!!" XD

I bought it from www.play-asia.com though the piccy is of the same thing from lik-sang.  Now you can go look at it and try to pretend you don't want to waste money one one ^~
you know you love it really =D

£112 for a 'joystick' which is only usable for one game(well i think its only usable for one game - correct me if im wrong) :o

actually, I'm thinking of using it for FPS games just for a giggle; mouse for looking, gamepad for other buttons (easier to hold than a keyboard) and the mat for the movement =D

if you're gonna call it a joystick then I suppose you'd probably call changing channels on a TV 'excercise'.  DDR games are as much about stamina and balance as anything and no keyboard or pad can ever emulate that =3

I've got DDR 1st through 8th mix and dancing stage euromix 1, 2 and fever.
I suppose I could hunt down a 'pump it up' emulator as well for even more dancing and gaming ^^

If this one lasts then I'll probably buy a 2nd one and get some real party games going =D
As for expense? there's no pockets in the shroud ^~

edit: wee... missed out a 't' ^^;

im just calling it a 'joystick' since it's for gaming - and its not a KB or Mouse. i know this is horrible wrong.... but sue me :p

but im just saying that i wouldnt buy it - mostly because i prolly dont think that the game is fun, nor will i be good at it. I can't really blame/flame you for buying it.

and using that for FPS games would have its charm XD that i might even wanted to try out.  - but why use a Gamepad when you already need a table for the mouse - why not the KB then o_O, unless the gamepad might be easier to use(i cant tell)

ahhhh, but it's easier to just use the mouse when I need it instead of spending the whole game bent over just so I can use the mouse and keyboard together =3

as for not liking it or whatever, give it a shot in the arcade sometime... there's few people in this world who can actually try a DDR machine and come off it not liking it though boys tend to be more loathe to even get on it in the first place.  Just makes dragging them on more fun though ^~

i must admit i am toward the loathing :p and thus i prolly won't go to an arcade to try it(i don't even know where there is an arcade nearby, nor do i know if they have DDR)

Many of my friends rock out to the DDR.  They go to the arcade, they have mats at home, and yes... some of them have even built their own arcade boxes.  Personally I don't see the attraction, but then again I always did favor shooting people over dancing..

it's like any other game really in that it's all about scoring and survival but you get a nice adrenaline rush off it being so active and it's full of cool tunes too =D

as for doing flips and stuff, he's just a showoff but you only get good by doing stuff and considering it's his matt I'm sure he's had waaaay more time on it than you SM =3

And here I thought that the stereotypical gamer was thin as a skeleton and pale as death.
*looks in mirror*
Yeah... Where do they find the time to eat that much food?

scary thing is I saw a guy like that on a machine in dundee... each footstep was like he was trodding on ants.  I was scared he was gonna break the panels or something so I left before I got hit by dancing-pad-shrapnel and played some crisis zone instead XD

wondered how long it'd be before someone brought that comic up though ^~

I like j-pop :p

Congrats on getting that thing.

I played ddr once and because I had no beat, I mean really no beat at all, I decided the game sucked and never went back.

Have fun playing it and remember to come back to LM every once and a while

Am I a loser for having gone to the mall on several occasions and stared at the DDR players?  Just sitting there, leaning on a pillar with my hands in my pockets...

watching....

grimacing.....

turning away and feigning disinterest when they finish a board and turn around to check their crowd.....

I think I'm gonna start making model planes....    ^^  :p

You'll regret it if you're anything like me. You'll finish the model (maybe), then never get around to painting it. Buy minimal-assembly RC planes instead. I gotta do that someday...
And now I feel like digging up DDR videos on the net.

lol, well if you guys ever read the comic (which is pretty cool actually =D ) I guess I'd better throw in a few terms and notes...

Triple A: you only get this if every step is a perfect, no fluff up, nothing wrong at all; every step is placed with almost machine-like timing for THE ENTIRE SONG.  Scary stuff but something to aim for I guess o.O

Perfects and Greats:  When you step there's several ratings you can get for each step based on how on-time you were... perfect is the absolute, outside of special play modes this is the highest you can get.  Greats are next best, they're the lowest that most people are happy with but if you're playing hardcore you still try and keep them to a minimum... there's also 'good' and 'boo' which means you kinda just skiffed the arrow, barely catching it and then there's plain old miss =3

Max 300: the 'max' tunes are generally credited with being some of the nastiest tunes on there, though 'japan' and 'tsugari' are supposedly feet-breaking tunes too.  Course, different songs revolve around different styles so it depends on what you're good and bad at... plus it helps if you actually enjoy the tune ^~

~pokes dubb~ chances are if you're watching them then you want a go too =D

edit: games are about fun, I think it's kinda sad so many people miss out on stuff like this just because they're afraid of how they'll look or they won't match up to other people who're playing on it.  Sometimes you get some jerks impatient for their turn making comments (only one I've had so far is someone asking why I use my arms while I was in the middle of a tune but I just pondered aloud why they ask stupid questions and they shut the heck up XD ).  DDR won't help you dance or anything but it's a good giggle and it keeps you in shape; if games were as active as this normally you'd see a lot more healthy looking gamers :p
