This happened once in #naturalselection... one of the mods pulled the dreaded !uba in order to ban someone.  Someone said "That's like emptying an entire prison just to execute one man."

i've permanned people then after a year or so i clean the slate so to speak and had them return  :angry:

#NS got around this by having onos [oh the memories] store the ban list for them, and anyone who joined the chan and was still banned onos would destroy them.

Nah, if we really want them out we will !addban them. Once that is full we figure something else out.

Onos almost got #ns removed off of the network once by malfunctioning with it's ban list.

that reminds me how everytime zer joins IRC with his webserver on it g-lines him for an hour

and I didn't know that onos almost got #ns removed from the network, that is cool trivia to know ^__^

I think the !addban list is much more spacious than the standard banlist. I'd just use that one instead. I always figured that in #ns, they use !b and !addban depending on the severity of the offense. And ad spammer gets a simple !b and is gone until the next !uba, some real jackass gets an instant !addban.

addban max is like 256 or something, my tfc clan had the addban list maxed once and we had nearly half of the world banned D:

Get a ^^list script for lork, and have him timeban whenever someone joins.  I had made one of those for mirc, but I deleted mirc from my comp, and I have to see if its backed up somewhere

Lork DOES have a manually configured backlist, that would be one idea.
