I only follow orders if i know the comm or if it's a hive assualt. Otherwise i just run around doing my own thing. You may be like omfg rambo bastard but i do a lot of damage to the aliens by randomly harassing and i know where to harass and i know what needs to be done and when. That's the glory of being a commander too :)
well Mr.ben a rambo is a wonderful thing.

you can come and be my rambo anyday, just let me know what your general plan is (ie what nodes your going to try and rape ect.) and i will try to assign you some backup.

because as we all know, ONE rambo is garbage, but 2 or 3 is a sizeable force to be reconed with.

but generaly i have nothing wrong with rambo's, just let me know what your doing so i can help you/send you reinforcements ect.

if you are just running off and dieing by yourself, then i urge you to hang around the armory and follow someone else because you're useless on your own.
Through the mudd and the blood to the green fields beyond, for ours is not to question why our is but to do or die.

And when we die and die we shall to saint peter we shall tell, just another soldier reporting sir, I've served my time in hell.

I've been known to rambo on occasion as well, but usually it's just when the comm is as active as a rock. If I've GOT waypoints or orders of any kind, I'll be the first one in line to carry them out. But if the comm doesn't offer anything, I just run off and start shooting things, have my own personal deathmatch until the game spirals down into fades and onos raping base. It's not as fun as a good teamwork game, but it's better than sitting in base and spamming the 'need orders' button until my face turns blue.

meh if a com is inactive like bob i feel the need to rambo to keep myself sane since the "standing by" and "ready to move" spam really gets to me.  however, unlike bob, i won't be living long since i at this point i don't care so i bring out my knife and attempt to knife skulks, gorges, lerks, fades, and yes even onos.  to me that is just more entertaining then sitting at an empty rt waiting forever.  now if the com has wps and is active and will give you the unbuilt building the first time you hit the need orders button then i will be more inclined to keep my guns at the ready and my knife only as a last resort.

Although I must also confess that if I build an RT and the comm drops a turret factory right next to it... Well, assuming we're not in a choke point, a double node, or a hive, I usually sigh and say to myself 'oh... we're going to play THAT kind of game again' I'll usually build the tfac and then run away before the comm can drop turrets. I know, I know, it's not very nice. But sometimes you just have to go with what FEELS right, eh?  :p

Ritalin is a sedative, usually used on kids when the parents don't want to deal with any attitude at all, and in some rare cases its actually used on kids who have actual over-active attitudes. If you gave a kid who has A.D.D. some Ritalin, you'd end up with a sluggish kid who can't pay attention for half a minute.
Actually AFAIK Ritalin is indeed a stimulant (an amphetamine).  It is effective in most cases against A.D.D., the problem you speak of is the over-diagnosis of A.D.D. in the first place.  What it does is make you very wired but focused - it tries to force you to concentrate on one thing, though the end result is you end up sort of OCD about it.  For some people it doesn't work and just makes them feel like they drank a whole pot of coffee.  I used to take it daily as a kid, and through high school and college I took it occasionally as I felt I needed it for papers, all-nighters, and long skull-crunchers like the SAT or GRE.

The "attitude" thing you talk about came later as Ritalin and A.D.H.D. became famous.  I think it may be in decline (though there are some other ones out there now).

Well, trying to stay on topic... :)

We played a game last night, I cant remember the comm but we were pretty muchs crewed, onos and fades incoming all the time. So what I did (with comms permission) I went out to get pg's at as hive, we had lvl 3 wps so that helped... The team managed to take down 4 or 5 hives that round, before te aliens finnally killed us, we slaughtered a bunch of hives, 2 of which with nothing more the lmgs and pistols, and using teamwork, we managed to take out 2 onos within 15 seconds, if not less (hmgs helped).

It was a game like that, a game with so much teamwork, hell I've seen less teamwork in WINNING games, we we were loosing to smeg, we actualy did something instead of playing the alamo, we brought the fight to their hives (before they could get a fade or onos there in time, :) ) and it was fun, like REAL fun and we lost. I must say it was one of my best games of ns for such a long time as a marine. (oh, I got 2 of the hive pg's, then they got sent of fear and I could barely get out of base, hell even then we managed two more which amazed me.) ninjaing in a loosing game of ns is about the most important thing ever, and that night it was proved :)

Hows my comming? PM!

For the win

Actually, a rule is to random, we don't always do it as we should, but I try to ALWAYS random, unless I really want to comm, or I'm tired of randoming to the same team.

I agree with diablus.  I like playing marine.  I like the sense of teamwork but alot of the time theres no teamwork whatsoever.  I end up being the only one at the waypoint or dying trying to get to it while everyone else is humping the armory like mad thinking its going to start spurting candy all over the place.

But there are occasions where the marines have some pretty decent and team minded players.  That makes the bad games worthwile.

er, no, ritalin is a stimulant, like caffeine.

I know that people seem to think Ritalin is the end-all-be-all drug to fix anything (unfortunately), but Night, according to that link, people say Ritalin can even make people's HANDWRITING improve... I mean...

Oh, and on topic: I hate marines. Completely.

Oh, I go marines on occasion, but I would much rather be an alien most anyday. Although, just because I like aliens doesn't mean when I do go marines that I constantly run around screaming for a lightsaber to weld and/or smite all obtructions with extreme prejudice.

I just try to avoid doing work where my aim is really counted on, or where I need to shoot things in general. (That time on RO really murdered my aim!  ^_^) I'll go RT hunting, travel with backup, or try to ninja up a PG... just don't ask me to shoot those skulks.

I've been an avid alien player since day one though, ignoring the tooltip "NEWBIES JOIN MARINES!" and having fun climbing walls and removing limbs immediately.  :D
