My wife and I are going to get our first (of many probably) tattoos soon, and she has found one she really likes. Now, she doesn't want o rip it off and claim it for herself, she wants to alter it a bit and call it her own. So, I need a good artist to take this as a base idea and come up with an original design. If she likes it, then you'll be a tattoo artist and I'll post the final once she's had it done.

The Original Concept:

This is the original design she found.

Alterations Requested:

o Lengthen the butterfly wings a little to more resemble a dragon fly wing.
o She wants fairy in the middle, not nude, but in an elven/fairy-esque garb.
o The tribal around the fairy needs to be changed to be unique, but keep the basic size.
o Try to keep it simplistic, this tattoo is only going to be one color, and simple designs are often the most beautiful

To try to help, I took a warp brush to try to give an idea of the dimensions of the fairy.

Any help is appreciated!

... and do him the favour of not turning this into a "tattoos suck" or "stfu tattoos rule" thread, aye? It's his decision. You can laugh at him if he ever makes a "Why did I get this tattoo? WHY?"-thread, but not until then.

i would have always thought you'd get a Christian themed tatoo? like.. the crown of thorns (would be mcuh in the same style, actually),  the classic Fish sign, a Celtic Cross. ?

Yeah, we all like to be branded, but only by designs that are approved by the Board of Christianity ™.   :D

Actually, I'm going to have a ring atound my arm in the design of a band of thorns and "A crown fit for a King" written underneath. But being a Christian means you have a relationship with God, and you show that unique relationship in unique ways. Some of the Christian paraphenalia out there I would never have/wear, it's just not my cup o tea.

Board of Christianity Ha ha very interesting.  I too am Christian.  The armband tatoo sounds quite interesting.  I'm personally not into tatoos but I think that would be very neat.  I wish I could help you out rad but I'm afraid im not artist just a lowly computer scientist :)

Well I needed a bachelours (Spelling?) in computer science from college.  I don't know what you would consider a computer scientist though :).

But to try and answer you question:  A computer scientist is basically a glorified programmer.  I took quite a few programming languages such as java, c++, assembly, html, asp, jsp, javascript, some php mostly self taught, cobol (too old to think about), scheme, pascal, basic.  Pretty much just a broad range of languages and focused more on c++ and java.  oh and sql.  We also had to take DB management classes, Network classes, Operating system classes (not this is windows but the inner workings of an operating system like how paging works and disk i/o algorithms).  I also took alot of math.  So I guess I studied alot about computers and how the work so I became a 'Computer Scientist'.

So there you go.

Oh Sorry for going OT on you rad.

Ooh, me likes. Could you hollow out the fairy to give it a non solid appearance, but still be able to tell what it is?
