General / Announcement Regarding Lm
« on: May 01, 2004, 01:55:39 PM »
You get suggestions and ideas from others?  I wish I got PM spam.  :(  Yeah I'm also going to be MIA at LM for a while.  Though you should still see me at the CS server from time to time.

Hey some of the PTs did play.   ^_^

As for the BUS, I really don't know.  But on the bright side it sounds like the PTs will be important again.

General / Death Haiku

Yeah, but hey /kill haiku doesn't seem as useful.  :p  Anyways, it counts falling in battle to someone of equal or higher rank (onos) so it's honorable.

General / Death Haiku
« on: April 21, 2004, 09:27:37 PM »
When being digested, I came upon a great idea.  Instead of waiting out our last moments looking at Onos guts, we can spend it in true Samurai fashion and write our final haiku!  It doesn't have to a precise haiku format (as we don't have the time) but should be vaguely haikuish and related to the game.

For example:

Petal floats in wind, shotgun goes click, screen goes red
Birds fly over lake, knife all I have, all I see is red again
Mother holds her child, voice tells me to phase, waiting out final minutes

Hope it inspires you to do the same!  And post any good ones you come up while waiting for death!  :p

I've played CS so I'm not noob, but far from regular.  On the bright side, even the AK feels as accurate as a sniper rifle compared to the LMG.

No mention of the Ronfar?  Bah, back to the wine, women and song for me then.

If I didn't lose my pre-1.0x playtest versions in a crash, we could play some rounds of those.  I'll take a look sometime and see if I ever made some copies.  But yeah, the memories....

Of course, hating it blindly is something he should not partake of.

Ever watch Family Guy? Futurama?  Simpsons? RoadRunner? BugsBunny?

All anime.  Not neccesarily Japanese in origin, but still anime.
I'm going to have to agrue with that.  While they along with anime fall under the term Cartoons (underneth "Moving Pictures"),  they are not themselves anime.  There is little doubt that there are anime influences in the later cartoons mentioned, I would not call them anime due to both origin and sylistic reasons (especially with the Merry Melodies examples).

U-235 does have good points though.  While anime is a nice genre, it is nowhere the be-all of entainment or animation in general and that's something everyone needs to keep in mind.

Yes, but the plot really while not bad, isn't that special.  It's a nice series overall but doesn't deserve the attention that it gets.

Flashoxr!

Gem, very good post.  One thing I would like to add is that not everyone is going to like anime no matter how many shoots they give it.  Like all things hobby related, it's a taste.  And there have been black men in anime.  They are somewhat rare however (there was a black man in a Japanese camera/car commanical I saw the other day though).

Okay.  Odd how it works out that way Gem, wouldn't have thought it.  And Jefe I know, it still doesn't mix well.

And Princess Tutu!  Geez, do download it already!

Gem, I'll have to agrue with you.  Excel Saga blows away FLCL that you don't really need to see the latter (oddly enough I watched them in the opposite order).  Excel Saga is the heir of Tokyo Pig and might even be better.  FLCL tries to be random and fails.  The music's quite good however.  I'll say it's the best thing out of Enroniax though.

Princess Tutu!

Considering your anime background, Trigun might also be a good choice.  Sadly I can't think of other good "serious" animes that I've seen that you haven't as they tend to come of several degrees of shallow "deep-talk."

And Excel Saga.  That is all.

AOL used to be good back in the pre-cable days.  Then it sucked and then there was cable.  Never looked back.

I actually have one of the transformable ones.  It's a pretty good one.  My favorite though was the WWII ones myself.  Panzers and Librators!

What was the magazine called?  Was it the Wizards of the Coast one?  If so, the pack is sadly worthless as they made those cards from some reason unplayable.  I mean really why?  But open them up and play them!

And nothing wrong with Pokemon.  It's actually a fairly decent CCG as oppose to Yu-gi-oh.  I trained my sister on it before moving her to L5R.
