i just played the wastes for the first time, and am exceedingly pleased with it.

the overview is as follows: It is a free for all fragmatch with configurabe weapon loadouts and some cool extras like thermal vison!!! The mod is set in a post apocalyptic world somehwere near nevada or mebe utah.

my chief beef with it was that the maps are big enough for like 200 players so i need people to play with, of course there don't seem to be any actual, read steam, servers up

any way thought i would post the link and all

edited for a less stupid and hopefully more coherant format.

It may be your sanity that prevents you, not your insanity ;)

The Wastes is a funkeh mod. I played it a while back but gave up after some time, since nobody was around to play it and it was buggy as heck. There's a lotta cool stuff in it though, and any fan of Fallout or Mad Max should check it out.

I was a big fan of TW for a while, but the total lack of servers makes it hard to play any mod. I even put together a nifty wastes mappack containing a lot of older hard to find maps from wasteland half-life, the wastes's earlier incarnation. Being a big fanboy of anything post-apocalyptic, I found it awesome. And yeah, some of the maps are incredibly huge, but they're also some of the nicest looking maps I've seen of any mod outside of NS. If anyone wants to throw up a listen server sometime and play some games, I'd be in!

I too enjoy playing the wastes. It was an awesome mod.. and yeah, most of the maps are too damn huge..
Another fun (semi)post-apolyptic (co-op) mod is Syndicate black-ops.. Unfortnatly its fan following is even smaller than that of the wastes..
and french.

Yes, lack of players seems to be the problem for every mod, which is why a few of us AHL players made mod club (bob, me, ect.)  We must've tried like 20 mods in a month, all with at least 4 players :D

Yeah I remember playing this mod years ago hafaf, no one to play with and lack of updates made me never look at it again hafaf! Another good mod is PVK though. Pirates, Vikings, and Knights, what more could you ask?(except for ninjas)
Hafaf, the reason I stopped playing that is it was buggy, laggy, quite a few exploits, easy to crash servers, and it had some weird physics but it was still a-bucket-o-fun!

what was the CS clone set in the future. it was HELLA pretty. and seemed like every map was pulled from Bladerunner.. anyone remember it? it made a big splash then dissappeared.

and while we are talking about HL mods (/me gets flashbacks of ns.org OT post), how about Digital Paintball, Box Wars, HOly Wars, Battlegrounds, Soccer, Master Sword, Gladiator, Front LIne Force, Firearms, Global Conflict (sic).....

Ghost-Ops.  Click my sig, check out all the nice renders.

And it didn't disappear; they're still working on it, an alpha version has been released to the team, and it's apparently awesome.

ghost ops was the anime-styled one (very ghost in the shell/masamune shirow) but I dunno if it ever came out and I'm pretty sure it was single player anyways.

What was public enemy like? =o
