Seems like I'm the only one who has a 4:3 monitor...
Hey, I said on first page I have 1024x768, and I still firmly believe me and (after the verbal lashing) bob are the only ones on earth who understand how refresh rates work, and why 60 hz is the devil.
I feel for you.  1024x768 unless I can get my dad to buy me a huge CRT that does 1600x1200 at 85hz.  Ah, a man can dream . . .

Golly! I'm lucky that my 5 year old viewsonic was top of the line! Depending on the game I use difference resolutions due to my videocard. HL engine stuff is usually at 1024x768 with a nice humming 90 hz, for ut2k4 I run good old 800x600 with a refresh rate of up to 120 hz! :D Good old Moniter

... 800x600? Ugh, you mean you're running a teeny tiny window just so you can have a high refresh rate? *sigh* Personally, I'd run it at 1280x1024 @ whatever the highest it can do at that res is

1024x768 here.  NS doesn't seem to get any prettier if you go any higher, or at least that's my excuse  :p .  I play most brand new games at higher resolutions, but for some reason NS gets left behind.  Oh well.

It could be a holdover of an old habit of keeping HL the same resolution as my desktop, because it was prone to crashing otherwise (and yes this was a long ways back).

1280x1024... But that's with 6xAA and 16xAF, so it's running a bit slow even on my Radoen 9700 Pro. I'd like to see if I reduce AA to 2x and AF to 8x performance, how 1600x1200 performs.

The issue here is not my videocard, but my tired old CPU.

I had planned to upgrade the whole bloody machine in time for DooM 3, but now the Radeon X800 XT PE, which SHOULD have been available in MAY, now might not show up in large quantities until OCTOBER, and forget about the PCI-Express version, which means I can't go for that new Shuttle XPC because it has a PCI-Express slot. So now I'm thinking it'll have to be some other Shuttle XPC with an AGP slot... and that will have to wait on the X800 XT PE. Blast.

ns's graphics are modest to say the least. i wouldn't sacrifice frames for a higher resolution because it doesn't really add to my experience. the text is too small in any resolution higher than 1024x768 anyway!
