Take Kestrel off the rotation, I'd rather play mineshaft in OpenGL Green Ascii mode as a marine for 12 hours straight then suffer this atrocity once more. And why do I never see co_ulysseus?

There was a clip error with ulysses in b2 that apparently was bad enough that it needed to be removed from the rotation, the latest changelog says that the error is fixed and it's back in. So unless LB is using an altered mapcycle, we should see co_ulysses eventually.

More of a bug-fix mod than a gameplay mod. I think.


It did attempt to fix two things though! The atrociously slow hive-healing (Haven't tested) and the Craptacular Unhealable Hive! (Haven't tested eitiher).


The only reason why I'd agree with the blink nero_oe is solely because of a civilian. Solely.


Can't wait to get back on soon and NOT combat! Weeee!

I honestly noticed little difference between the blink of version 2.01 and the blink of version 3.0 betas 1 and 2.  Was blink, then, changed in beta 3 without mention in the changelog?

I've not played since 2.01 civ, so as far as comparisons go it's pretty much the difference between 2.01 and 3.0 beta 3 =P
Trust me, there's a huge difference when you're blink hopping, it's like 1/4 the distance -.-

Why oh why there has to be the co...hey c'mon...

My opinion is that Death Match shouldn't be a part of ns...i like to die by surprise...not by running around and chased by numerous creatures.

NS should be only team play...not Death Match..

Or am I just DM-hater?

combat is not deathmatch.  It is very close, but not deathmatch.  NSDM would have you respawning every 3 seconds just to be killed by some guy with an hmg just passing by, or a fade who spotted your respawning flash.

Combat is "Team Deathmatch", But it isn't that either.  The marine team just sit in marine star and let the aliens attack and justify it by saying that they're "Defending" the chair which is pure bs.  The whole team doesn't need to defend the chair, and if not, half the team don't need to 'defend' the long corradors 'leading' to the chair.

Either way, it gets uber boring after a while.  Thats why many of the regs have been going back to LM instead of FSD, because there is huge amounts of lag on 3.0 ns_

3.0 beta 3 is not laggy, that I have seen. Have you tried a long game of ns on b3 yet? The lag is muchos better. The cpu usage seems to be down as well, from what LB has told us. So that's good at least!

Yes, co does get a wee bit dull after getting used to the intricacies of real NS. It's just cotton candy. Sweet, attractive, but no substance.

beta3 i dont have much of anything nice to say about it at all, i'm very dissapointed.

CO is the most horrible thing i've ever played. being spawn camped endlessly is just stupid, while they say they are gettin exp. why dont they just kill the CC is beyond me.
all i can think is thank jeebus FSD has FF cause i'll shoot the CC down myself anyday.

NS while when i've seen 10 straight aliens wins and 0 marine victories i dont have anything positive to say about it  :angry:
balance still seems to be an issue flayra has no grasp of, he changes one thing and it totaly unbalences the other, kinda the ying and yang but in b3 the yang is right off the ying scale (yang being aliens)




in short, i'll look to 2.01 for my NS cravings.  :(
3.0 makes me sick.

On yesterday evening...

I playd NS on a Finnish NS-server...and there was co-map on mapcycle when I logged in. The second I established my connection I was dead...

I have to say that you have to be a maso if you like it. IT IS ALL SPAWNCAMPING!

Something bad really happened to NS...it lost it soul due to CO.

I think I stick to the 2.01..

my main worry with CO is that it's diluting F's attention to the original NS.  Now he'll be trying to balance both game modes despite the fact I couldn't give a fudge about CO =/
It also leads to the problem that the changes he makes to units in one effects the other so if he starts tweaking the fade for CO it'll have repercussions to the fade players in NS -.-

I'll admit that the game is starting to feel more 'robust' and 'professional' but unfortunately it's also starting to feel more like a published game; in that it's heartless and losing it's soul.  With each new version I find myself caring less and less about the NS universe or even NS itself  v_v

Yeah because co = multiple upgrades per chamber. If we could do that in NS there might be some chance of balancing the two. But somehow while it's okay to have a regen cara celerity adren fade in co, that would be totally unbalancing in NS. And the co Fade is way cheaper and comes back every time you kill him...

Co right now is pretty well balanced, I see about an even number of marine and alien wins. NS is totally b0rked and if the marines have half or even 1/4 of a clue and can manage to heavy up, they win. I've seen stupid heavy trains crushed before because they split up or didn't weld, but that's it. If they can manage to stay in the same area and whip out those welders every once in a while, marines win. And each beta nothing seems to be changing about this. YARGH!

Why can't Flayra just create two differant mods, NS and CO, not just a differant map.  Is there some sort of problem not letting him do this?

Flayra wants people to be able to get into natural selection via combat. So he wants to use the same stats for both. He doesn't want the onos, for example, to have different health/armor in combat vs. real NS. Lots of people, myself included, think this is a pretty terrible idea, but he's the man holding the fate of the game in his hands, and he listens to or ignores people as he will. =(
