Blanka... the silly thing was that while you usually had to projectile or sweep him to cancel the electric attack he had, chun-li could just foot-stomp through it from above XD

His cannonball thingy where he rolled across the screen had really low order priority too; I'm not sure but I think you could counter it with even light punches o.O

Hehe, I remember pissing off my friends with Blanka by sitting there as an electric ball all day, or as Guile for spamming Sonic Booms all day.  :lol:

yes, his canonball had BRUTALLY low priority, and, try doing that roll against a dragon punch.. OOUUUCCHH. basically insta kill.

lol, yup yup ^^
Didn't like blanka... always found him a bit sorta broken.  Sure the elec is fun but he's ugly and the elec attack is really easy to actually get around when you know what you're doing =3

Did anyone ever managed to get more than a triple footstomp with chun-li?  That's where you never touch the ground between hits... I think I managed 4 once using a rebound off the edge of the screen but it's been so long I could just be imagining things XD

Oh and I pulled of ryu's throw on a friend in RL when we were little lol.  He was much bigger than me so the look of surprise on his face as I sent him flying over my lil head made me giggle =D
I felt bad for laughing though when I somehow threw him further than I meant (his momentum did the work so the fact that he ran at me was to blame =P ) and he missed the grass completely, conking his head on the hard pavement ^^;

My favorite was when my friend was charging to push me down a sand dune. I just dropped to one knee and flipped him over my head ;)

Mmm, Street Fighter Alpha 3. Hands down the best fighting game I've played to date, and certainly the best Street Fighter game. Capcom vs. SNK 2 just lacks that feel that Alpha 3 has, and 3D fighters are all just a bunch of sucky button-mashers. I'll have to try Guilty Gear X2 some day though.

Strange, he always seems to go to the waypoints I give him...

:D

I really need to get my hands on this game again...

yes, he does, but he feels that commrage gives it a more authentic feel.

and a few notes to LF
all 3D fighters are NOT button mashers. Virtua Fighter 2 and 3 are incredibly hard games to play well. and SF 3 ALPHA?!?!!? what sorta new fangled conflagaration!?!?!? i was discussing SF 2! in all it's brutally unbalanced, bugged glory!!!!

and i dunno where you live, but you haven't seen fighters played to it's peak unless you live in Vancouver, CA. the influx of HK immigrants make for legendary incredibly insane gameplay. perhaps one of the reasons i stopped playing oh so long ago, the kids were too good :S

just be glad you never had my flatmates then... one of them (defdefire) runs around winning tournaments and raymond (a friend of asian decent) says that def's the best 'white' player he's ever seen lol.

I can whup him in soul calibur but he's a walking lethality on 2D fighters; it's kinda hard to dodge the 80 odd super move combos he pulls off and stuff.  He's nuts =s

jeebus kids!!! KOF is AFTER sf2... there WAS no competition for SF2 when it came out, only clones :p very, very very bad clones of such a derivitave mucousy quivering mass that even Honda's Hundred Hand Slap would not save you from it's rip-offedness...

and then the fighter games got better ;)

gem: nifty! you happend to have any of his fights.. er.. demo'ed? or anything?

nuh-uh... never made a demo in my life... neither's def ^^;
I'm not too bad at 2D fighters but Def's just got years of experience behind him.  I swear he's played everything from marvel heroes to SNK's line to the whole SF series =s

He loves the 2D games more than 3D stuff because of their reliance on finger-breaking combos of doom.  He's really good at chaining up crazy stuff and he's always had a flair for playing for style rather than playing to win (though he usually wins anyway... and even his losses are spectacular to watch o.O ).
Um... anyways... enough praising def lol XD

If you love 2D fighters I'd honestly say GGXX is one of the better titles out there.  I quite like Capcom vs SNK 2 as well.  I just never really clicked with the later sf games even though I'd been a pretty avid fan of the original SFII =/

I remember one bright sunny day playing SF2 in the local mall arcade busting things up with Ryu when a shady looking older teen stepped up and challanged me.  He chose Guile though by now I was all too familiar with the typical Guile "turtle" strategy and prepared to hadoken him to oblivion.

Right as the match starts he jumps at me and I freeze!  OMGWTFBBQ!!  :help:   It was the now infamous Guile handcuffs glitch! I stood there in terror as he danced around my stunned Ryu....I never had a chance.  Sometimes to this very day I will wake up in a cold sweat and cry myself back to sleep.

did he doe the invisble throw on you? that's truly scary. he makes a motion like he is doing his medium throw, and you just fall down, WHEREEVER you are on the screen, and take the throw damage. that is just ebil!

and ok, haduken.. but what does he say when he does the dragon punch?
