Inspired by LowCrawler's ressurection of Warzone, I'm asking how many of y'all have Total Annihilation, and perhaps even the good expansion, The Core Contingency.  TA is so awesomely fun in multiplayer that I think it'd be a shame if we're unable to play any games together.  For added awesome, I can run a small Ventrilo server so that we can all talk the smack while playing.

So basically, if you have it (not HAD it, like in Anarki's case -.- ) post a reply here and maybe PM me some time on IRC.  If we get a large enough amount of players, perhaps 4 or more, we can do some team games or comp stomps or whatever.  Heck with even 2 or 3 you can do comp stomps.

Greatest RTS evar!!  :D None of this micromanagement stuff, just set them churning out and mass on everything  :)

This is the one game my dad can cope with playing against me. Admittedly he hands me my butt on a plate every now and then, but then I find his commander and nuke it.

Its very sad hearing your own dad go "omg no nukes allowed now"  :D Sore loser.

MAX = Mechanized Assualt eXploration. though .... MAX is used by the game itself.
it takes place on various planets throughout the universe, there's a commandor, who is a human brain taken out of the body to preserve it. Anyway, your base can be anywhere, however, everything most be connected through "Connecters", which transports resourches and power between whatever. these resourches you dig from the ground, or ocean floor and often you need to make a long connecter between some mining facilities to your main base in order to get everything you need. One interesting thing is that you can also upgrade every unit in different ways, speed, armour, and so on.

this is the .44 Wand, the most powerful wand in the world, so did I fire 5 or 6 fireballs? Now you got to ask yourself one question pal, do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Both Homeworld games get my vote for Best Music, and I've yet to find a scene in a game that's as... 'significant' as the Return to Kharak in HW1.

<Karan S'Jet> "No one is left... everything is gone... Kharak is burning..."

<Fleet Command> "Kharak is being consumed by a firestorm. The scaffold has been destroyed. All orbital facilities destroyed. Significant debris ring in low Kharak orbit."

<Fleet Command> "Recieving no communications from anywhere in the system...

... not even beacons..."

Probably my favorite scene in any game. Nothing like playing along happilly, then you come back and find out that your little hyperjump experiment caused the Taiidan Empire to sterelize your planet, and you are all that is left of your people...

EDIT: Bleh, if I wanted to quote all my favorite scenes from game I'd have to post all the text from HW1...

"The Bentusi said.... 'No one returns.'"

"This is the Garden of Kadesh. For thirteen generations we have protected it from the unclean. The Turanic Raiders who came before you refused to join and were punished for this trespass. Like theirs, your ship has already defiled this holy place. If you have come to join we welcome you and will spare your ship until all have disembarked. If you have come to consume the garden you will be removed at once... What are your intentions?"

"We are sorry, we did not realize the significance of this place. Please allow our hyperdrive modules to charge, and we will leave at once."

"If you're not going to join us, then die."

Then 50 million little fighters swarm all over you until you get multigun corvettes and blow em all out of the sky.

Such memories. I can't believe I never beat the first game. I had at LEAST 75 Ion frigates salvaged of the 150 in the giant sphere, then my damn hard drive crashed.

I lined em all up in parade formation, and I couldn't see the mothership from the end of em.

Alright, I'm kinda busy at the moment, just started up at school again, so how bout this Friday, anyone that is available for a TA game, add TA to your nick in some way.  Hell, it doesn't have to be this Friday, but that's when I'll have the most time for myself.

I have played TA, and though the gameplay is good, I don't really like how powerful things are, it's....overwhelming.  But maybe that's because I learned and am used to things that are much closer, and far more chaotic.

However, I am STILL listening to the music, because it owns.  Same with Starcraft.  And Command and Conquer (in it's many forms).

speaking on behalf of most old rts games.. i'd have to say no :p (since most old rts games have options to join by ip and so on, most new rts games dont have that.. :p)
