I've got a request to ask the community.  Next time one of you is playing marines with me commanding, could you record a demo?  I've always wanted to see this to improve my game, and to see how understandable I am over voice comm and if I voicespam too much.  Preferably a real game, not some silly 2v2 :)

Thanks folks!   <3

You know you can record your own comm demos as well if you want to review things from your point of view. But I can understand wanting to see how it works from the field.

Better make sure it's a marine who won't be dead for half of the game, unless you want to make sure you've got enough IPs constantly.

I'll record one the next time I finally get back on lunix.

Also, if you get a demo made from comm perspective, I'd be happy to look it over with you, give you pointers. It's usually helpful getting another comm's input, even if you don't really need it.

My main reason for wanting this is to hear myself comm.  Unless there's some way to record that yourself without voice_loopback (that always makes me trail off midsentence...).

Thanks guys ^_^

yeah for some reason it gets really confusing when you talk with loopback on

Could always get a 3rd party voice recorder. Search Downloads.com for one.

The voice_loopback is odd at first, but if you use it enough you can adjust to hearing yourself consantly.

It's helpful if you're trying to determine how you sound in game, so you don't have to sit there "How's this, can you hear me any better?". It doesn't have much other use unless you want to hear yourself constantly, and it does feel like you're interrupting yourself, but it isn't too hard to adjust to it.

Thanks to fatty for coming through!

The game the demo was recorded on was actually (lucky for me) a pretty amazing game on Nothing.  Aliens had Powersilo hive, and we battled for possession of Viaduct for a very tense few minutes, until the hive finally went up and we got it down very soon afterwards.  Close one.  Later on during an attack on Powersilo, Cargo hive was snuck up, and the battle for that one was fierce, with the PG almost in the hive, hordes of skulks rushing and ebnarfade attacking, we were saved thanks to the PG being covered by mines.  The main reason we won was the team's ability to be in multiple places at once while not really ramboing - lots of people breaking off into groups of twos and threes - which kept our res flow high and alien RTs down.  Definitely worth watching; from the perspective of an excellent player too.  Even if it's only to see ebnar typefragged as a fade.

Also shows that I don't text messages much while commanding - poor fatty with no mic often got ignored for requests while the rest of the team get JPs and stuff.   :D  Sorry fatty!

other comms ignore me much longer though, doobie, you are one of the better ones.

yesterday i was sitting in hayao rt for 4 minutes (i counted) waiting for a node. i called for meds even though i was at 100%, did the 'in position' thing, typed it several times, and seth dropped it after 4 min. luckily the teams were crazy stacked and seth didn't need me to actually do anything for marines to win.

i'd say you could use some work, but not NEARLY as much as seth and a few other commanders. some people completely zone out and forget they are not playing single-player starcraft.

Honestly, between watching battles, checking med/ammo/order calls, listening to voicecomm, and ESPECIALLY the general banter between teams it's extremely easy to miss important messages.  It'd be nice if there were a different place on the screen to put messages to the commander, but oh well.  I mean, if one were to watch the generally full text section constantly - that's time you're not watching marines on the field, scanning the minimap for RTs or base under attack, etcetc.

It sucks, but the best solution is to use the voicecomm - that's why it's there!
