What Server Would You Like?

The CS server is unused. I am going to pull it down later today.

• Must be a Half-Life mod, sorry, no other games at this time
• Must run on steam, I will no longer run WON.
• SvenCoop is out of the question as they never fixed the crash bug.
• A NS:C only server might work.

how about a mod of the week kind of thing?

just pick a random (preferably smaller / less popular) mod and put it on the box for about a week

i think it would be cool to put a passworded NS server that way we can have our own server+ when the server doesnt have enough ppl, the resers can just go play in the public server.

Lancer, i don't think that would do any good, seeing that we already have a RS system so regs can play. all it would do it split the players i think.

I'm going to say that a second ns server would be a bad idea.  Then it would eventaully turn into these people play on this server, and these other people play on the other server... split us all in half

I've always been against a second NS server as well, I just had to toss the idea in.

DoD might be fun. I've had a few decent games fooling around with it before. RC2... negative, unless there's a way to turn off the rocket launcher weapons. If so then very much yes. It's a great game with a lot of fun in it, but the stupid rocket launcher weapons, which are all proximity based, are just silly. You can seal off a whole area of the map just by spamming mines and turrets and junk all over the place. Of course, the exploding scientists and barneys are still cool...

I've played hostile intent a bit, and it's a lot of fun, but it is still awfully buggy, and not very widely played.

For fun mods that probably wouldn't last too long: Bumper Cars and snow wars are two classic favorites. We might also consider a zombie panic server... but probably only after the game gets out of playtest phase, which may still be a ways off.

Although a second server would be nice, it woud split up the community for awhile. But my main opinion is that no matter what happens, the server will eventually fail (just like the CS one did). People will eventually stop playing on it. If the CS (the most popular online game) server failed, how would another one last? But that could be due to the fact that it was passworded...

it's a given that no mod will hold our attention as long as NS. but it's nice to have it switch out every so once and a while and go on a gaming frenzy (HLRally, Sven, CS, whatever else we played on that).

i think dod would be great. dod public.
