Someone feels the pain! What kind of connection do you have Diablus? I assume some sort of broadband. It usually only happens with 56k, but it has been known to happen with DSL and cable. The best advice I can give you is to  just tweak your modem settings, since there is almost no way of telling what is wrong. Many people have to try different things to resolve the problem. There is this one guide that has 5 different options you can try to fix it. I'll look it up later today.

Ok, the most basic thing to do is to uninstall your QoS Packet Regulator (it is least important on a broadband connection). Also, uninstall any other extra things that you don't need (having to do with your connection). To unistall these things, go to your connection's properties, then the Network tab, and then it lists the items your connection uses (for XP). Basically, all you really need is the Internet Protcol (TCP/IP), unless you know for sure you need another item listed. I don't know how to do it for 98, but I think you could figure it out or look online easily. Here are a couple of links for you:

Well, follow my directions to uninstall the QoS Packet Scheduler (or Regulator; whichever it's called). That's the first step. Then use the first two links (under Problem Help) to try to solve your NET_SendPacket ERROR: WSAEINTR (it's sad that I have this name memorized). And, I believe the CS one tells you to ask Microsoft and your computer manufacturer for help with Winsock, etc. So do that if you have no clue.

Oh yes, I forgot on of the most common things to do. You should also optimize your HL settings for your connection. Some commands are cl_rate, cl_dlmax, and cl_cmdrate. I only know the settings for these for 56k. To find out what to have for cable, try looking on Google. I'm sure you can get good results on the first results page.

Simple: The application quit out of sheer surprise at encountering NO ERROR. Must be a Windows app.

Also, Diab, yesterday, I just found out another piece of important information. When you set your connection speed for Steam, it is automatically the default DSL > 256k, and for me, it should be Modem - 56k. This causes major spikes, and if I'm not mistaken, the WSAEINTR errors. The problem is, it always goes back to the default connection speed once you close that options window. Until there is an update to fix this bug, it's very likely that this could be causing your problem.
