Do any of you use squad hotkeys?

I never seem to use squad hotkeys when i'm comming because i don't see what the point of it is.  I can med and ammo them just by looking there.  Is there other benefits to making squads a group other than knowing when their under attack?

i use it to hot key the ops. and arms lab so i can upgrade/bacon quicker.

As I posted before, I use 1 for obs, 2 for arms lab, 3 for armoy, and 4-5 for Marines. The point of hotkeying Marines is so that you can either give them all a waypoint quickly, or so you can see all their health states at a glance.

I squad key the AL and obs, so I can quickly make sure I've always got an upgrade going,a nd to be able to ping and beacon quickly. Some ppl squad five all the troops so they can hit the key, and see everyone's health.

But you can easily tell if you're alone in squad 5, or with other marines by looking for minimap and finding other green-coloured guys

wow i was about to suggest that you should be able to see everybody's health at a glance as comm but i guess that works as well

The bad part about it is how whenever you place a building when all your marines are selected, they get an annoying waypoint in their way.

Just for obs and AL, like everyone else.

Cause no one follows waypoints anyway.

I use waypoints all the time... mostly to lead people to a RT site or when i'm leading them to a hive

It's easier to just tell marines where they're going really, and yes having Obs, Arms lab and Armory in squads = <3.

Don't ever use it on this server, but for node blocking where it's appropriate hotkeying recycling nodes is the best way to know when they need to be dropped again and when they are under attack, since they dissappear when they finish recycling and flash red when being attacked.

I put the obs, armslab, armory in squads one, two, and three respectively. In the early game I put the ip in squad 4. Later squad 4 and 5 become the hive pgs (hopefully a two hive lock :p).
