Wait what?

Who's your namesake?

You're too cryptic, you're obviously a freedom hating spy from Derkaderkastan.

bacon and duck need to think deeper! :p Though I never knew any of this, I have deduced that Niteowl is a character in said comic series, The Watchmen. Thus, this movie will have an actor playing as the character which our friendly neighborhood comm-raging comm takes his name from.

Hey now - just because the two of us haven't ventured into that level of geek-dom, you can't fault us!

We are toooooooooo cool to know that type of nerdy stuff.

It's an awesome comic, but from what I've heard of the leaked script, they really messed up the movie D:

They removed the 35 minutes line, Niteowl kills Ozymandias with a RAZOR-SHARP OWL BOOMERANG, Silk Specter is called Slingshot and can shoot energy bolts by making the peace sign, a giant death ray that just disintegrates people instead of the other thing in the comic.

Hopefully that script was fake and completely wrong because those changes are ridiculous.

i have very very very low hopes for the films. the comic book series (12 in all) was somewhat dark and somewhat depressingly nostalgic. not the best way to sell a comic book movie.

what made niteowl NITEOWL was the fact he WAS this middle aged, paunchy, bookish type fellow who used to be a super hero. in spirit, at least, i identified/identify/sorta identify with him.
