Latest update of Steam (18th of the December) can cause the following error:

Quote:
steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructuredException at 0163048B: Attempt to write to virtual address 2439276314 without appropriate access rights.

STEAM.EXE - APPLICATION ERROR
The instruction at "0x1000ecd" referenced memory at "0x016470c0." The memory could not be "read."

To fix go to your Steam folder and delete the file ClientRegistry.blob, it should work properly after this.
To the stars!

Does anyone know why when i run Sven through Steam, it opens up the HL.exe and you get the background image, then just as the menu text ("Find Servers", "Options", etc.) would show up, it crashes to my desktop?

guys, plain and simple, The golden rule of Steamand all hl mods: When something goes wrong, AND IT WILL:
1. Back up your data, the entire directory
2. Remove the Steam or Mod's directory
3. Reinstall into a Fresh, unused Folder with nothing else there, so if it was "C:\steam" Make it "C:\steam(new)\steam" or something jazzy like that
4. boot your app!

I've heard this even from tech support at Sierra, Just follow that and you'll be set for any issues, cept for Fmod issues :p
