Lately on CS, i've noticed that a few servers really abuse grenades. All sorts. Up until the other day, in my 4 yrs of playng cs, i got repeatedly flashbang 8 times by my own team. Since then, ive realized a few things about nades:

HE Grenade: Overall a great tool to have in CS. You can never go wrong with one of these. If i had a dollar for every time i finished off someone with a nade, I'd have like 100$!This grenade can't really be abused unless ff is on or your opponant  is spamming them at spawn.

Flashbang: This tool can be deadly to opposing team if used correctly. A well placed flashbang around the right corner can give you 1-3 kills. But unfortunatly in the wrong hands this can be deadly to you. I cant even count the number of times of died because my teammate decided to lob a flashbang in the hallway im standing in.

SG Grenade(Smoke Bomb): This is an iffy item. Many ppl do not like this because because their comps cant handle the smoke effect and they lag. This is why i have nickednamed this item the Lag Bomb. Personally, i have found many uses for te smoke bomb and i like to use it once and a while.

Questions? Comments?

I was flashbanged elevently billion times last night, gg  v_v

The HE grenade is my fave, but it's damage is bizzare. I've had them go off right in front of me, yet sometimes Im left with 30 health and 100 armor, or 72 health, and 40 armor. Odd... but still, it's quite useful.

Smoke grenades = fps dropping lagx0r b0mbs indeed, but also nice in doorways so that sniper doesn't quite know where to aim first.

As for the flash... let the pointman throw one, and DON'T THROW ONE OVER HIS SHOULDER! Otherwise, save it for when you KNOW you have the drop on the enemy and none of your buddies are in teh vicinity.

I agree with you. I guess it really depends where the grenade will land. i didnt think the hitboxes were that specific.

The thing that has always bugged me about the flashbang is how I can turn my back on it and still get blinded. Splinter Cell pulls the 'turn away, no blindness' part off so nicely. Ok, so it's newer. Bite me.

If you turn towards the wall, the effect and duration is like...decreased liek crazy

Actually, I guess it only makes a difference if you get lucky.  I've had it happen both ways.

originally you could turn away and totally avoid the effects like in SP but I guess they changed it because flashes weren't getting used enough or something =o

One thing to keep in mind is that in RL flashbangs aren't just used for the flash; the sound of the detonation is loud enough to have a stunning effect on people who aren't expecting it.  In one piece of RL footage I've seen where SWAT was conducting a house raid, the team popped off a flashbang outside the building stunning everyone inside, it was interesting to watch; the guys they arrested looked totally messed up by it =3

That's true... it wouldn't be that hard to code in a semi-loud (we don't ACTUALLY want to deafen people) bang noise, and then a sort of 'ringing ears' noise. Then you could run up to them and they couldn't hear you coming.  :D

The HE's in CS are far too weak, you only loose like 60HP/Armor if it lands by your feets. And i tought CS tried too be realistic  <_<

And Bob, I actually use a "*puff*, *BIIIIIIIIIIIIP*" sound for my flashbang, best sound replecemt ever.

HE's are fine. They're not some AWP-in-a-can ;)

Smokebombs, i've never really seen them actually work. They're always just lagging everyone, and that's about it...Is that really their true, secret purpose? Should they be renamed Lagbombz? Maybe.

Flashbangs are just good, clean fun. Annoying as hell, and useless to boot. Of course, it sucks when you get team flashbanged, but that's how the wheel goes 'round, I guess. It's supar effective to blind the enemy.

Conclusion: Buy the HE and two flashbangs. And forget the lagbombz. Thank you, and goodnight.

HE nades can be pretty annoying when you throw one in the general direction of the enemy and then *you have killed a hostage* ....dammit!!!

Damn hostages. What're they doing around there anyway? Don't they know it's dangerous with all those guns and terrorists keeping them captive and all? Silly hostages.

Smokenades can be used for one purpose!, besides creating a hell of a smoke, and lagging some people!(like, not me XD!)!. because!......dun dun dunnnn! it sounds like a Flashbang when it hits the walls/floor.....!

Smokes are useful for getting past snipers. Especially on places like the long hall leading to the house on cs_italy. Also they provide great disorientation effects. Throw one somewhere, then hide behind boxes somewhere else. When your enemy comes out and starts spraying into the smoke, shoot him in the back!  :D

gem is correct: in real life, flashbangs are no fun at all

it's over a couple million candlepower, and I forgot the decible count.

I personally like the nades becuase they help push forward, a flashbang or a smoke at the right time can mean the difference betwean life, or awm bullet to the head.
MAC DRE: Cold Crest Creeper, a rapper that would dip-n-yoke quicker than he could pimp-n-smoke, flows  that hit your ears harder than Ike hit Tina. Forced to serve a Nickle but would never drop a Dime.

my favorite strategy against a camper is to throw a smoke in the door he is guarding. he WILL turn away, thinking it is a flashbang. i pop out at the same time it goes off and he is dead.  >:D    >:D
