ok, now that I have actually READ it, heres my thoughts
sure its easy to take down a hive that no one is in, but your forgetting in your calculations that there should be an even number of aliens all taking hits, and sucking up ammo, distracting the marines, and making it hard. A fade or a lerk or an onos can do even more. A few skulks in key places can really screw up a rush, sucking up ammo, armor and res for medpacks.
I do agree that shotties ARE overpowered, but its not THAT drastic :p

alch is really nice early, but it can get to be REALLY hard later on. You need fishing, and you need to know where those hard to get herbs are. Oily blackmouth is annoying to fish for, and stranglekelp is rare as all hell.

imma make my main char, prolly a undead mage on a west coast server. Ill still play with you guys, but it wont be the main one, ill be a tailor or whatever profession you need, but I like playing where I know I got a better chance of no lag :p

I played the first stress test, and I have seen more lag in released MMOs than in their stress test :p

well scooter as you may or may not know, the last time we were precise on the rules we got complaints of "OMGOMGOGM TOO STRICT OMGOM MAKE THEM LIGHTER! ARGH NO EVIL NAZI ADMINS!" and the like, and it makes it really fustrating to make rules for people who will just refute what they see.
