Off Topic / How To Meet The Gender Of Your Choice
« on: April 24, 2004, 08:51:32 AM »
Alright, I'm a little late for this, but the best piece of advice I've ever heard is:

Be yourself. That's it.

Don't pretend to be someone you're not, don't try to change yourself just to meet someone, that's being rude to the girl.

The best thing to do is just wear what you want to wear. If you throw anything on that you feel comfortable in, keep doing that. If you like a certain type of style, do that. It doesn't matter. Even on dates, don't try to look really fancy. It makes it look like you're trying to impress her by being someone other than the person she likes.

If a girl doesn't like you for the way you are and the way you act, then she isn't worth your time. Relationships are about appreciating each other, not changing each other to fit exactly what you want. Yes, there are girls who will like you for who you are.

Another thing to remember... If you're not happy with yourself, that means you should fix whatever is making you unhappy. Overweight? Take steps to lose it. There are some things you can never change, but there are a lot of things that you can change until you're happy with yourself. I'm happy with myself, even though I'm a little overweight with hair that goes down to my waist and old, worn clothes. I'm comfortable like this and I don't care what anyone else thinks of me.

I agree with you 100%, Gem. Unfortunately, like you said, it's been driven in to my head, so I wouldn't feel comfortable being nude in public or anything.

If I ever have a kid/kids, I'm gonna try to teach them otherwise. Probably get me arrested because they'll think I'm just a pervert trying to see little kids naked, but it's worth it if they learn something valuable.

By the way, if she puts a boot password on, just clear the CMOS. There's a jumper somewhere, consult your motherboard manual.

Also, I would go to the cops about her seperately or with your parents. Tell them what's going on without her around and then have them talk to her seperately. It'll work in your favour if your parents are around, basically.

$3 debit card fee? That's crazy! There's a $.50 fee every time someone uses a debit card here, that's a lot more fair... If the kids were near me in the store I'm in, I'd have probably just paid the different for them. Geez.

I think that some of the stuff in E3 was unconditional scripting. Just to show things off. Like where the Strider moved, I'd put money on the Strider walking the same path every time. But things like impaling people would be a conditional script like Gem said. If it detects a person in range, it runs the "Spear The Humans!!!" script and spears the target.

i would ask how you knew it was scripted, but i'll just say that it was a demo. not the real thing, just supposed to look like it
He's right, they're all scripted. :/

What exactly is the bind of pain?
Basically, it executes "autoassign" on everybody's client, which forces people who aren't already on a team to join a random team.

BoP is crap, one reason i've found is that it pulls spec's out and forces them on to a team, and the result is a afk marine or alien. very annoying!
If you're only AFK for a minute or two, it doesn't really matter much. If you're AFK for 5 minutes, you'll be booted anyway.

The Bind of Pain was removed recently. I heard that it was due to abuse, but to be honest... I didn't see any abuse at all with it. It was used often yes, but I didn't hear many/any complaints about its usage.

I think the BoP is a great idea, as it prevents people camping in the readyroom for entire rounds and when it is used, where you are assigned is truly random. The Random Team portal isn't truly random, because you can usually predict what team you will join just by glancing at the scoreboard.

I've spoken to quite a few people in the server, and I've seen a lot of support for putting the Bind of Pain back in and very little support for leaving it out. I believe the usefulness of the BoP far outweighs any abuse that may have taken place.

3. Jump+forward
I've tried all the plus and minus combinations here, but somehow whenever I attempt to bind that (even via alias), it doesn't work. Is this part of the scriptblocking that disallows semicolons ?
I would think that...

alias +fjump "+forward;+jump"
alias -fjump "-forward;-jump"

Should work, if you haven't tried that. I'm not a scripting genius, though. I prefer to do things the old-fashioned way.

Also, it's not part of scriptblocking to disallow semicolons. All it disallows in wait and special, I believe.

I don't see what the big deal is... If you don't want CZ, all you have to do is cancel preloading and delete the GCF... Or, if it tries it again, just do was U235 said. No big deal, about five minutes of your time total.

Well, how about a big sign that says "THIS IS NOT A DECK SHUFFLER" then?
personally i think this is the best solution to your problem if and only if the kids know how to read :help:
If that's the case, this image should strike fear in to their hearts.

There's no important point to changing the gravity, I say leave it like it is. It's just fine, IMO.

« on: March 11, 2004, 07:06:18 AM »
lolfighter, you're talking about PPPoE. Most DSL users use PPPoE. To use a hub/router, you would connect it like this...

I'd suggest a router if they don't allow multiple connections. The router makes the connection, and the two computers connect to the router.
