I originally thought perhaps they were just letting it lie for a month so that all the goofs would move into newer games and forget NS.
Now it just seems NS is going to slowly die. NS:S seems a ways off if it's going to expand the gameplay, tbh even with permanent funding I wouldn't think its going to be a stellar sequel.
I suggest 42. Its easy to run, there's a good selection of stable enough mods. You have the core game, or one of the Desert Combats, Galactic Conquest, or Interstate. Its also cheap to pick up, for anyone who (for whatever reason) never bought it.
In the first game, I taught my ape to set fire to its poop and throw it. I was also starting to train it to use poop and corpses as biological weapons, but I got bored, haha.
For the record, as much as I've found it hard to get playing NS, and as unhappy as I am with the site's outage, I still don't think its a game I can bring myself to abandon. Because really, for any of its flaws, there's the deep satisfaction of racebased classbased team objective play.
Which is something I can't really get to the same degree elsewhere, hahaha.
I'm a constie and i didnt even play the new beta. I mean, whats the point, good or bad I'm playing it for the community. Without the community, there's nothing to enjoy.
So now its back to single player RTS games... saddening.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein UT NS XWing v TIE Fighter Neverwinter Nights BF42 and in particular DC, DCX, GC and Interstate. AvP2 when the server owner has half a brain Star Trek: Armada II (plus the Babylon 5 mod) Star Trek: Elite Force plus Expansion, specifically ASSIMILATION MODE!!
Patch sounds pretty awesome to me, randomised SG, cloaking tweaked, wallwalk tweaked up and a pounce-y move thrown in.
Should be some good times to come!
As an evil constie I certainly look forward to trying to sneak my way into a stress test, failing that I think I'm going to clear my weekends to get some solid gaming in, this patch looks like it'll shake a few things up... or so I hope!!
