I find I'm spending more and more time at the PC, mostly listening to my music CDs, when I inserted the bonus music/dvd disc bundled with the ROTS soundtrack.

While the DVD played, there was no sound. At. All.

Curious, I've  inserted several DVDs but for whatever reason I cant get any sound out of them!

I installed K Lite Codec pack. Didn't work.
Tried updating WMP, didnt work.
Downloaded SHERLOCK, which only found a problem with MMSWITCH.AX

Downloaded WinDVD, which of course WORKED PERFECTLY.

Can anyone tell me, where am I going wrong, why do my DVDs disrespect RealMedia and WMP but love WinDVD? Is there a way to fix my problem?

All help welcome!

I recall a few people saying they played NWN, does anyone still do so? I've started getting into PWs and I'm wondering if I should be looking for familiar faces!!

You all need to buy LEGO Star Wars: The Game.

RIGHT NOW.

Its such awesome fun. Its like Jedi Power Battles only you dont get annoyed with it after 10 minutes.

I'm having a real blast, and its the sort of game you can let the kids on too. You have a pickup/dropout 2nd player for all out rucking, and you can unlock pretty much everything you've seen in the films, from Lego Droidekas to Lego Darth Vader, to Lego Yoda.

And yes, Lego Yoda does all that wacky spinning stuff from Clones. Seriously worth every penny and DEFINITELY worth a rental for the curious. Its got me hooked bad.

Cue flames, comments, and the inevitable pic of DHP's legotank and/or other people's lego.

For those of you not on the server regularly, I attach my cheerful infectious laughter which rings in many teammates ears.

So, for those of you who miss out on games where I use my mic, I have a little clip of me laughing. You can hear better ones ingame, especially if I manage to kill Ebnar/HD/admins or land a welderkill on someone.

Enjoy my friends!

Ok, in simple friendly terms, what should my rate and associated commands be set to?

I seem to have problems tracking people, and I often hear other players complain of warping, so what should I be looking for, and how do I fix it?

Off Topic / Finally, I have arrived...

Today I got my first NS hackusation. I would like to thank you all for indirectly training me to be able to be so good that on LM I can be accused of hacking.

Without the long brutal shotgun rapings, HD fadehaxing, BilliRad comming, AdjAsal haxing in general, and Sheen aimbotting, I would not be in the position to leapkill/parakill clanners, dodge bullets, or outhax X-S-Z.

 <3 I love you guys!!

I will bake a cake and eat it for you in your honour.

The only thing is, will I have to change the definition of "humiliation kill" from "being killed by Necrosis" to something else?

Off Topic / Damn You Java Irc
« on: September 30, 2004, 12:55:17 PM »
Is there any way I can use the LM Java irc and have it tell me I'm being DCC'ed? Other than strange "download to desktop" messages popping up and scaring me?

I keep thinking its something not entirely legitimate and shutting it, but it also means sometimes I'm missing DCCs.

Anyone suggestions? I'm hopefully going to set MIRC up this weekend (I'm connected to the net through another PC which doesn't like strange new connections, so I need free time to fix that) but if that doesn't happen I'd still like to know a bit more about the Java IRC.

Cheers in advance, sorry if anyone's been inadvertently offended anyone!

Oh, and my new Necrosis Aliens Pack is up at NS.org, feel free to try it and comment!

I'm sure you've all read the dev comments on structure blocks.

I've made my post on the NS forums, but what do the LM folk think of this? Will it affect LM server rules? Should it? Does anyone thing the Dev team have got it wrong?

Ok folks, I know how you much you enjoy eating sugary treats. I, Necrosis, r teh mastor chefzor, so I will show you how to make tasty treats with which to bribe the opposite sex or gullible relatives.

Today, a double bumper. Light Chocolate Sponge, and homemade Hot Chocolate sauce. I hope you all try to make it, and if you do, post up pics. I know what it should look like so fakers will be quickly spotted and shaaaaaaamed.

Without further ado -

Necro's Light Choc Sponge

4 oz margarine
3 large eggs
1 level teaspoon baking powder
4 oz caster sugar
5 oz self raising flour
4 oz drinking chocolate

Heat your oven to 180 degrees Centigrade.
Grease and line two 8" sandwich tins.

Place everything in a bowl and beat well. You can whisk, but it tastes better if you mix it with a spoon the old fashioned way. Do this for about 10 mins, make sure its well mixed and smooth. Split the mix between the two tins, smooth the top, and put it in the oven for 35 minutes. The cake should just be coming off the sides of the tins. Lift them out, turn them out of the paper onto wire racks, leave to cool.

Phase II

Chocolate Buttercream filling

2 oz butter
4 oz icing sugar
1 oz drinking chocolate

Pour butter and drinking choc into bowl, beat well, gradually add the sugar, continue to beat well. You can use a whisk but make SURE the mix is smoooth otherwise your cream will taste gritty. Try a bit and if its smooth then its ready to be used.

Put buttercream on one layer of cake, put the other layer on top. Simple.

You can ice the top if need be, use more buttercream. I shall tell you about icing on another recipe.

Now, for the coup de grace

Homemade Hot Chocolate Sauce

500g Dark chocolate
100g Double cream
Milk

Melt the dark chocolate, mix with the double cream. Mix and mix and mix and mix and mix and mix.  When there's no white streaks, add a LITTLE milk, just a drop or two. Mix more. Continue until you are happy with the pouring consistency. Then serve with the cake (or you can have this with pancakes, waffles, icecream... it'll form a shell on ice cream - GREAT!).

Ok folks, enjoy this installment of Necrosis Cooking. Tune in next time for more recipes!

Post your pics here folks, I'll post mine when its done!

General / Ever Have One Of Those Nights?
« on: August 10, 2004, 12:40:44 AM »
Never been so close to hitting the voicecomm button and spouting the foulest diatribe I could think of.

Skills stacked the entire night, with *new* players opting for walker fades, or ramboing off instead of dropping any nodes.

Even when we'd a few good players, the odds were against us. I never fade, for example, so my 50 res was often wasted as we had no free hive. Other people have similar skill holes.

Of course, we end up getting toasted, time and time again. Finally we get some decent skill on our team, when its just at endgame. Server changes, and I end up on rines. Back with the smacktards.

Aliens sens rush, comm decides not to use MT, so we get diced, rush mess hall X times and die to cloaked skulks, noone bothers their backside to reinforce us, etc etc etc....

All in all, the most tedious game. Ever. I wish they had one big throat so I could throttle them all.

Carty knows at least one of the games I'm referring to. So dismal :(
