General / Re: <insert class here> in TF2 is OVERPOWERED!!
« on: October 05, 2007, 04:10:44 PM »
I'd have to say I like the balance of TF2.  All the classes have a counter, at least from my own point of view, and it doesn't seem like there are any "super" classes, nor any overpowered combinations of classes.  All that's required is a willingness to change your class to fit the situation.

For example, even a poor sniper will do better taking out a heavy on open ground than the most amazing pyro.  The pyro should get mowed down before he gets close enough to do any serious damage.  The heavy and the sniper aren't overpowered, nor is the pyro underpowered.  It's simply a matter of understanding which class is right.

(Qualifier: I also liked the balance in all the versions of NS, and have never really noticed any problems.  The majority vote says I lose at balance judgements.)

Alright, well....I do as I am told.

These are just approximations, as I have other people who either live in my apartment, or don't live there and yet seem to be eating all my food.  I should charge them rent.

All times are U.S. Central Time (GMT -6, I think.)

I'm around mon/wed/fri between 10:00pm and midnight

Also, weekend evenings after about 9:00pm.

Happy birthday.

Since you are now legal, can I assume your existence was illegal previous to this?

Eh, I joined.  I need new music, and this seems to be a good way to find something good.  So far, I like what I hear.

I would, but with my current POS laptop, it crashes when I do anything remotely processor intensive.  I may get into it again after my spring break, when I get my new laptop.  (In about 2 weeks)

I've been trying to avoid games this semester, though.  They tend to distract me from homework, and that's extremely bad for me.  We'll see how it goes, but chances are, I won't be playing more than once or thrice a week.

Don't worry, Spectre.  You may have been able to beat me last summer, but I've been training.  I'll give you a run for your money this time around.

Just wondering what everyone is interested in.  I'm personally into MMA and brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and it's a blast.  I'm also sort of interested in seeing what else people take, and why.

I take BJJ because it is applicable to a real self-defense situation.  You hear that a lot from martial arts instructors, but I have seen (and been part of) demonstrations that, to me, prove that BJJ is the way to go.  It is by no means an end in itself, but it gets you there.  I take MMA because it focuses on striking- something that I am historically so bad at punches/kicks/elbows and so on that my instructor broke down laughing the first time I tried to punch at him.

So, what are y'all into? (Please specify what you take if you choose 'other'.  Fencing, for my purposes, counts.  So does Kendo.)

I know that it is not the Hard drive or the RAM.  Those are what I have tested- I apologize if I wasn't quite clear on that.

I'm running a Prostar D4F laptop, with a 3 gig Inhell Pentium 4 processor, 1024mb of RAM, and an 80 gig hard drive.  It's been having trouble with files being corrupted, and I'm wondering what to do about it.

For example, when trying to install Skype, I can download the file, but when I try to install it it gives me an error along the lines of "the file skype.exe does not match the file in setup.cab".

Another example-  I tried to install Black and White 2 ( I am aware that the integrated graphics cannot handle this game- that is not the issue.)  I have both the physical disks, and images of them.  I have a valid cd key.  I can get past the first cd, and then it gives me a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) error, using both images and physical disks.  It does this whenever I try to install something, and it is making me rather angry.

I did reformat, and even moved to a different version of windows (Home ---> Pro)

So, I have replaced the hard drive, RAM, and mobo/processor (by putting the mobile parts in another laptop), separately and in groups.  Everything works in the other laptop, with no trouble.  That leads me to think that I have a problem with my motherboard and processor, but I'd like a second (and third, and fourth) opinion.  Go ahead and ask me some questions, I've got more information, I'm just not sure if it's all relevant.  I'm not posting my DXDIAG yet because of all the hardware changes I've made.

Wassup?  I've got me a nice pair of shock paddles for anyone who claims that LM is dead AND buried.  That, and a couple of capacitors hanging around here somewhere. . .

Personally, I don't know if I'd buy it.  It takes a lot of convincing to make me buy a game, and NS:S won't get any brownie points for being NS-related/sequeled.  If it's worth it on its own, as a game, I'll buy it.  If not, Flayra needs to find a new way to make money.
