General / Stop Complaining About My Weird Reloc's

Dev's relocates are the best! Not only do we get a hard-fought battle (sometimes hard to come by) but at least we know that not everything is as overly serious, and can sit back and enjoy the game!

Now, I was in a strange position.  I was on the server at the time, but I was the ONLY one not suffering from said problems.  What occured was:

At the end of a round, everyone seemed to lose their connection, or suffer a map change, and then the game reloaded ns_eclipse, which was the map we were on. (Excluding me.)

Then, as expected, everyone reconnected.  After a few moments, the round restarted.  Then, to my suprise, the majority of both teams AGAIN disconnected....only to return in a few moments (At this point, Kodiak, behind me, was getting frustrated and being angry at his computer).  This continued to occur, with people connecting, disconnecting, and then reconnecting.  I heard that some got certain admin or server messages as to the cause.  However, being not directly affected, I cannot tell you more.  Simply a witness.

I'd been kind of wondering that meself. That's one of the odd things about social groups on the internet. If someone disappears, you have absolutely no way of contacting them. All communication assumes that both sides will come to a central point (irc, aim, email, etc.) and pay attention to each other. You can't actually hunt someone down on the web... You have to both know common ground and both go there at the same time.
That's not true....I can hunt anyone down....anyone......

And on a side note, if any of you see a strange guy peeking in your windows and taking notes while you play?  That's not me. Nope.  Not at all.

Heh, that was so awesome.  I'm sorry I didn't get too much combat of my own, but it was too great to watch.  Curse you and stealing the only go lerk-taxi (Laxi?) on the team! Mine always dropped me in the middle of MS and bolted for the exit!

Go for it.  definitely.  This is not about Firewater and LM, this is about NS.  Remember that, and just give Firewater a nice happy "Piss off" if he bugs you, and all things will go perfectly!

Good! That's one less gorge to steal my res nodes! *grumbles about inconsiderate gorges stealing all the safe nodes before he gets around to them*

General / Running Away At The Start Of The Game

As a general rule, I go for RTs because I trust my aim, and my luck (I don't want to go to the hive side  ^_^ ) to keep me alive long enough to get a fair number of RTs.  And let's face it, when you get your base up, what comm doesn't want more res right away?  I think it helps, it cuts down the alien's advantage over marines at the start by giving them so many nodes.  And who knows? Maybe I can catch a gorge all alone who hasn't dropped his node yet.

...even without games, my room never got cleaned.  For that matter, I always seemed to have dirty laundry lying around.  What's up with that?  You mean I have to do work? How annoying.  :(

As for showing up, I decided it was about time to go out and find these things, after seeing them mentioned one too many times.  It bugged me.  I want to see all the craziness the place cooks up, not just the little portion I have a hand in on the server itself.

I managed to do this for sereral months, and learned a very important lesson.  It simply cannot be done unless you replace gaming with some other time-consuming hobby.  We, as gamers, learn to depend on this for many things, including stress reduction and relaxation.  If you find no other way to gain these benefits, you will inevitably come back, no matter how stubborn, tough, or detemined you are.  From my observations, one of the best substitutes is a girlfriend.  However, I find that moderate gaming is not a problem, and there is no reason to stop altogether.
