Off Topic / You want this HL2 mod
« on: January 01, 2005, 06:18:35 PM »
Hehehe, I know that after checking out this thread and using the mod, it was almost impossible not to, Swift.  First I created the best long-distance travel vehicle ever.  Then, of course, I succumbed to temptation with Alyx.  Afterwards I had fun hanging people from filing cabinets, and stacking headcrabs.

Maybe once I get my webspace fixed up I can post all of 'em.  You're right though Sonic, this is an amazing playground.  Great job with the bike ride and the dragging cart, that brought me to tears!

Sorry to see you out for a while Booj, but you do what you have to.

Well, Gordon lowers his gun, so I guess that counts.

Remember, Vortigaunts were called slaves in the original HL, so I guess when Gordon killed the Nihilanth they thought of him as a liberator?

Even though he personally killed a whole bunch of their kind, too...

I salute you rad for having the courage to post this link.  These guys certainly have their own style, but I think the work is laudable.

Thanks Legion for finding the very stats I was thinking of, it can be serious stuff.  Not everyone who wanks off to hentai or whatever has a disorder, but it can become an addiction.

Never pulled it off, though I certainly tried.  The angle is really tricky with the gravity gun, and we all know Gordon's too wussy of a thrower to sink it himself.

Well, not surprisingly there were several links relating to everybody's favourite animal, the emperor penguin.

But then I found this.  What scared the crap out of me is that this guy's from the same city as I am!  I have half a mind to find him and beat him up, stupid name-stealer.

And what tore me apart was that it wasn't until page 4 that I actually saw a reference to myself!  I'm not unique at all!

I'm in the same boat as Clashen, I ruined my own surprise.  Therefore I had nothing to distract me from the gravity gun.  My favourite thing to do was toss the ball up into the pipes, so Alyx asks DOG "Where's your ball, boy?"

It's just one of those details that makes you go "Man, those guys really HAVE thought of almost everything!"

I'm glad to hear that they're improving too, Low.  Sorry I didn't know what was going on earlier today, I've had little time for forums and IRC these past few days.

It's good that they'll be back together for Christmas, though it will probably be a little more sombre this year.

General / Beta 6 changelog
« on: December 19, 2004, 11:27:45 PM »
I'm certainly anticipating this new release, and it does look like things are going to change a great deal.  I'm really looking forward to all the new strategies that will come out of B6, and what new preferences appear on the server.

It looks like sens will be more popular, but I'm hoping that there won't be a dominant pattern, like the current MDS.  I know that sometimes we change this, but really only to mix things up it seems.  I hope that instead of one concrete order we actually see some versatility, at least in chamber strategy.

Ahh, Dave Barry.  I always get a kick out of his column.  I heard that he was retiring this year, though.  That is a great shame.

So this latest patch toned the magnum damage down.  Does it really make a difference?

General / Awesome Game on Metal
« on: December 11, 2004, 11:00:31 PM »
What an awesome game that was.  I remember feeling absolutely drained towards the end, because it was such a slugfest.

Big thank you to Rad for putting up with our early node-swapping incompetencies, not to mention staying the whole 75min when others might have dropped in frustration.

Also, have to salute Adj for all the crazy hmg/jp work you did.  The dude just kept chasing down onos and fades, gunning them down.  What was that, like a dozen fades on your wall after that game?  What is it with you and flying, anyway man?  Unstoppable.

Thank you aliens for not hitting us quickly enough after the third hive, I can't remember the last time 'rines made it back from a three hive game without some crazy ninja/sg rush.

I think it boils down to Rad's slave-driver attitude towards res.  It was always, grab this node, save that node, kill this node.  He never let 'em go down.

Yes, this is just the thing I've been waiting for.  I wonder why this isn't default on.  I want a stack of headcrabs!

Well sure he's genetically identical, but he's still not Snake.  You just can't replace Snake.  Not even with someone who looks like him and is possibly superior in skill.   :p

I thought the story was set somewhere in the time of that first Metal Gear for the Nintendo.  This one looks prettier.

"The border world… Xen… is in our control for the time being, thanks to you. Quite a nasty piece of work you managed over there… I am impressed." (Scenery of Xen with busted tanks and dead marines strewn about)

That's the scene I was thinking of.  I guess what I was trying to figure out is who exactly is in control of Xen now that the Nihilanth is gone?
