More like 10secs. you dont NEED to load up the whole mag, you can just wait for like 5 shots and shoot just them.

Have you tried to simply look in the Add/Delete programs menu?
I some really anooying Spyware (or something like that), neither Spybot or AdAware coufind anything but i could find it there! :o NUBALERT!

The irony is killing me. One of the supposed strong points of Steam was supposed to be that "look, we can fix things in no time and you don't need to make a conscious effort to get those fixes!", and in the end it breaks stuff more often than it fixes it and you cannot make a conscious effort to avoid it.

(Or can you? It's been so long since I used Steam, can you turn off automatic updates?)
