I'd remove that DDR2 too, DDR2 is made of suck!

What? DDR2 is next gen DDR...

IR, are you building this yourself?  If so, and you don't need HD output on the video card, you cane save $20, by going with one from newegg.. I've decided on N82E16814125025 , which is a passively cooled 7600GT, for $20 less then the one you have.

Also, be advised it does not look like your DVD burner can burn or even use normal CDs.

I don't want it.
When I get my new hardware.. I'm going with Debian.  I'm specifcally getting a NVidia card, due to better linux support.

Microsoft's last stunt with WGA is too much for me, I'm basically done with windows.

Few of my friends started playing.. nothing serious, but it seems pretty fun.

I started looking for a gun.. I somehow wasn't impressed with the ones at Wal-Mart.. no surprise there.  While I don't want to spend a lot on it, I'd like to get something halway decent.. from what I've read so far, http://www.airsplat.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=AR-UA-312 seems to be a decent choice.

It's not going to be anything totally serious, but I don't feel like wasting money on wal-mart guns.

Yesterday, the forums got exploited by a bot, which added two hidden iframes to the top and bottom of the page.

One of the links was to a page using the WMF exploit.  The other went to a page using a java or javascript exploit.

If you were not running anti-virus, and you visited the forums yesterday or today, I suggest you download something like Avast and let it run a full scan.

If anyone think's they have stuff left over from it on their systems, and want help cleaning it, let me know, either on IRC or the forums.

As far as I can tell, HL1 is dead, unless we wanted to host a CS server (which is kind of pointless).

Sourceforts however is pretty good.. you get one or two people playing, 8 more join out of nowhere.

Opinions?
Right now, the server fills up pretty quick if one or two people join (By pretty quick, I'm talking from 2 people to 10 in < 5 mins)

:)

The next version is right around the corner, and theres only about 6 servers.

So once 191 is released, I think the server's going to be full most of the time.

On one level, you have the degradation of socieity, on another you have family relationships, another corruption of officals.. I could go on and on :)

It's a pretty good movie.. I suggest you watch it

It's very easy for somones computer to accidentally connect.  Windows does it automatically, for no real reason.  Happened to one of my computers

If it's gamesurge, check out the server list, there's a few listening on non-standard ports. http://gamesurge.net/servers/

There's also the option of getting the encrypted password list, and cracking it for the admin password...

Or booting say, knoppix, renaming files for the firewall, and watching it disappear..

Or SSH tunnel through another computer (what I do),

Also, if the school doesn't keep up on their patches, well, thats just asking for it.  There are a couple exploits that can get you admin level shell access.

Or boot off a knoppix disc, and IRC from that.

It all depends where the actual port filtering is being done.  If its computer-level, there's a bunch of ways around it.. If its at the actual connection, your only real options are non-standard ports, or some kind of encrypted tunnel.

On a side note, MAC address filtering is useless, as I proved to my school.

Announcements / TFC Server!
« on: December 31, 2005, 07:07:46 PM »
We have replaced the NS server with a TFC server.  Despite the fact that tfc is older then ns, it seems to be doing better then the ns server already.

Anyway, TFC up at lunixmonster.org:27015 , go give it a try.!

Love it to death and no complaints at all.

You can say all you want about security holes and all that, but I keep it patched and ain't a dumb user on top of it.

If they are the pins I'm thinking of (Little white plastic thingys), you should be able to compress the back, and slip them right through.

The gel is almost certainly thermal compound.  What happens is, after you remove the old heatsink, on the main chip there will probably be shitty looking stuff.  Clean it off with some rubbing alcohol (clean the chip even if nothing is on it).  Next put a decent amount of that stuff onto the chip, then put the heatsink on top of it.

Consult the manual first, make sure it doesnt tell you how.

It may hurt preformance, but its not something that you are going to notice.  Even at that speed, the ram is still significantly faster the the HDD, or CD drive.   Most ram is backwards compatible, so if you had some in your old computer, chances are it will work in the new one.
