Until today (before I really put some thought into it) I wasn't a big proponent of the 'unchain the chambers' movement.  But maybe that's what needs to happen. :/

Heh.  SWG is so easy to grind classes, and then you realise that even though you're a Master Asskicker, you still can get ganked pretty easily.

And then you realise that once you're up to Master Asskicker and Master Crotchlicker, with a couple levels of First Aid, you're all out of skill points, and there's nothing else to do in the game.

Actually though you really do get a ton of time to draw a very elaborate picture, something like two minutes, so that person probably didn't run out of drawing time.  However, there's a much shorter timer that starts once one person guesses the word.  So what might have happened was that someone guessed the word when the drawer was only part done, triggering the shorter timer and running the person out of time before he could finish the picture.

Nope.  They used most of the drawing time on eveything but the cloud... everyone in the room was doing things like that.  I emembe, because what frustrated me was that i was the only one guessing wods - the 'brute force synonym' method - angel, harp, wings, seraphim, etc etc etc.

Then the timer was almost up, and he scribbled his cloud on.  Then the red timer started, because the othe folks in the room knew the dilly-o.

Lately I've been doing the Tandem room, where two people team up at a time to make a drawing to be guessed at, and some of the Theme rooms, like Animals.

HOWEVER... today something happened that convinced me there's gotta be some way to cheat.  There was this chick that ALWAYS got EVERY guess right, right away, etc, a la the vets you mention, scooter.

Which is not in itself weird.  Except once when she guessed the word before the person drew anything... that piqued my interest.  Then, later, I had the word Black Rhinocerous; broke it into two parts, a black square and a rhino, np.

Partway in, a new person joins, doesnt pay attention to that one... you know how it goes.  So it picks him to draw next; he's  not paying attention, so he sees where the game said my clue was Black Rhinocerous... so he thinks that's HIS clue.

So he draws almost exactly what I did... and that chick manages to guess the word he had anyway: DINOSAUR.

Damn near blew my stack.

...only a game... only a game... only a game...

It's not even that, snark.  The other day i ran into a whole group of people that had pads and talent... could have been a GREAT game.

BUT...

the way they playe was sooo annoying.  They'd use 90% of the time allotted to draw some big masterpiece unrelated to the clue, then at the end throw in a little nod towards the clue.

Example...

This one guy drew a very nice looking woman in a toga, very detailed.  Then added a harp.  Then a pair of wings on her.

Time was almost up, so he then switched to blue pencil and scribbled under her feet...  for CLOUD.

I am apparently violent.

The wretched King Minos has decided your fate. His tale wraps around his body 7 times.
The sweet light no longer strikes against your eyes. Your shade has been banished to... the Seventh Level of Hell!

Seventh Level of Hell

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guarded by the Minotaur, who snarls in fury, and encircled within the river Phlegethon, filled with boiling blood, is the Seventh Level of Hell. The violent, the assasins, the tyrants, and the war-mongers lament their pitiless mischiefs in the river, while centaurs armed with bows and arrows shoot those who try to escape their punishment. The stench here is overpowering. This level is also home to the wood of the suicides- stunted and gnarled trees with twisting branches and poisoned fruit. At the time of final judgement, their bodies will hang from their branches. In those branches the Harpies, foul birdlike creatures with human faces, make their nests. Beyond the wood is scorching sand where those who committed violence against God and nature are showered with flakes of fire that rain down against their naked bodies. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe. Usurers, who followed neither nature nor art, also share company in the Seventh Level.

------------------------------------------

I'm a baaaad boy.

I didnt play much.  I was always the DM, starting around 1978 until late in second edition AD&D.  My style was very off-the-cuff - almost never using modules, preferring a narrative style over dicemongering.

'course, I also had practically every sourcebook available, and just about had them memorized.

I miss those old days.

run into subspace.  They run around the hive and don't see me(the marine spectators tell me my head was sticking out of the RT).  They really just ran around the RT until finally a gorge saw me.  I killed the gorge and a fade got me.  Truly a case of really blind aliens.

Actually, I saw you right away - you were showing on the minimap :)  I was just trying to decide whether to build a bunch of ocs, or spit at you. :D

Like I said in IRC - I'm a sheep.  I go where the people I know are going.  I play games to have fun, and being on a team full of strangers who can't play for jack isn't fun.

General / REQUIRED READING FOR PLAYERS
« on: December 07, 2004, 07:06:26 PM »
Nec- yes, shotgun rushes pwn hives.  Yes, there's no fear in building a phase and rushing.  But these are not 'blitz' scenarios where the hive is in danger from the moment the skulks hit the ground... normally, alien team doesn't have to worry about the hives until the second one is building.

You never see things like the old Grendel chestnut of 'send three guys with lmgs into the hive to kill their start node and have them bug out'... because that would get those three guys and the comm banned.

The current spawncamping rules mollycoddle the alien team.

I was just thinking... isn't the way the spawncamping rule is set up now partly responsible for the slightly accelerated early alien game?

Since marine players are afraid to go near the hive for fear of being spawncamper-banned, thee's no need for  the alien team to bother with such things as, say, defending the hive.

Well, I'm sure everyone knows what I =used= to do - professional level design.  These days I work in the aquatics department of a PetCo, specializing in marine aquatics (saltwater stuff).

Working on developing my portfolio to get back in the biz, but I have so little time, and... my fishies need me!
