General / Good Mice?
« on: March 18, 2004, 05:24:21 PM »
bah, I'm trained to just hold down attack and hit Q when it's time to bite/slash someone :) that's as fast as the mouse button way right?  I've used a 2 button mouse so long that my mouse hand doesn't even know it has more than 2 fingers...

yeah, FFT only... I think humans, chocobos, colored magic, and Cids are the only REAL constants throughout the FF world :D

...and spiky hair...

could use more spoony bards...

General / Worst Maps For Jetpacks
« on: March 18, 2004, 02:30:55 AM »
would just be helpful to see a list -- a few of the maps have really annoying low ceilings, with crossbeams to bump your head on that make it nigh impossible to glide straight down a hallway, essentially negating any function jetpacks might have in said maps...

so, which maps would you say are particularly bad for JPs?  bumpy, low ceilings, cramped hive rooms...

this post was inspired by my experiences with JPs in Ayumi.  It has to be the worst map for jetpacks, IMO.  I can't really think of a single part of the map you can comfortably navigate with a jp.  can't even fly high or far enough to evade a celerity onos on Ayumi <_<

General / The Phrase "bs"
« on: March 18, 2004, 02:12:47 AM »
even more annoying than 'bs' is people who say 'h4x' whenever they get killed :( at least one guy whose name I forget actually has a script/hotkey to say it EVERY time he dies...

something else I group in the same category: one of our own fair admins who shall remain unnamed tends to chuckle after every kill... really, that's soo last year :p

I shouldn't really talk though -- I tend to do a 'no problem' when I make a kill too

General / March 15th, Was A Bad Day For Me!
« on: March 18, 2004, 02:03:23 AM »
yeah... 2 onoses in the field digesting 2 marines -- that's 2 marines that won't spawn for a while/won't be beaconed back in, etc...

but when there's a rambo of full health, it IS lame... as for a way to enforce a rule against it: no kicks or bans, just let the devoured marines whine and flame (in couth language) and tsk-tsk at the offending onos, so everyone can be ashamed of him =P

Q, I'm not sure you've given it enough of a chance... I've been playing obsessively on LM for a few weeks now, and I find the nubbage to be a bare minimum.  Admin warnings and bans are dealt out exactly when necessary and keep 'em in line.  And really, 90% of the people on LM are the LM regulars -- I seldom see a name I don't know.  maybe 1 or 2 people I don't recognize on the server at a time, when it's full.  And the regulars are all ppl I'm proud to play with, most of them more skilled than I =P

General / Is There A Point To Armor3?
« on: March 16, 2004, 08:07:08 PM »
yeah, medpacks and armory hump heals make it worthwhile... but only if you have nothing else to spend it on... it should certainly be the last upgrade...

General / Ever Have Your "off" Days?
« on: March 15, 2004, 12:19:35 AM »
I'm an INCREDIBLY inconsistent player.  a lot of the time my heart just isn't in playing, I barely concentrate, I don't really care about getting pwned, I rush at the enemy blindly, etc etc...

when I concentrate, I'm pretty good... higher alertness, better attention to strategy, etc...

I'm talking, difference between being 0 kills 8 deaths and 60 kills 3 deaths =p

General / Your Thoughts On Hive 1 Onos
« on: March 15, 2004, 12:01:34 AM »
there should be a way to either beef onos up, or go onos earlier, when he's actually useful... an onos vs. a squad of low-level LMGers = win; an onos vs. just a couple high-level HMGers = mega lose...

maybe make onos cost some low amount like 50, but limit it to one onos on the team at a time?

just speculating...

« on: March 14, 2004, 11:56:08 PM »
what was the topic again?  oh yeah, gravity. =P

it DOES seem kinda mean to change the gravity so that LM has a whole different feel to it than the bulk of NS servers... but would it necessarily be a bad thing to make people have to readjust their skills, thereby becoming more skilled?  YOU be the judge. :p

as for jumping on structures, I know *I* love to stand on the armory while humping it, or stand on the TF while defending... 'til the com screams at me to get off, saying he's trying to click it to upgrade :>

helpful hints for coms can be invaluable, though.  there's a difference of course between spamming OMG SHOTGUN WTH NUB COM, and saying 'we should build a phase gate here and see if we can sneak attack this hive'... or reminding the com about some upgrade he might be forgetting, when he has enough res...

General / What Do You Think Of The Lerk?
« on: March 14, 2004, 11:22:09 PM »
for me, the lerk is the alien that pisses me off the most when I choose it =p because it forces me to start cursing and get tempted to call ppl H4X0R2 when I fly over their heads at full celerity speed and they still kill me :(

but still, when I actually concentrate it's a pretty good alien... good for sporing and umbraing and chewing on marines' bums while they're distracted by the main force :>

General / How About A Little Change...
« on: March 13, 2004, 03:28:00 AM »
feh, when I ask if it's ok if I take a risk and put sensories up first, often people on LM will agree/allow it... really, it all depends on the skill of both teams... skilled aliens can take down the marines no matter what structure is built first, and vice versa...

IMO sensories first is simply fun vs. your average marine team =p I <3 watching 3 marines who can't see me walk by, then chomp em all in a row before they really realize what's happening...

in more strategic terms, sensories may not help vs. electricity, but if all your skulks are invisible, they can ambush the marines before they even get to the res nodes to begin with...

General / The Third Hive
« on: March 13, 2004, 03:15:57 AM »
I think Saltz makes a compelling argument... beef up Xeno, maybe put in a penalty... like, slower spawn in combat, or perhaps a res cost in classic... 2 to 7 res per xeno or something...

3rd hive really does seem frivolous most of the time... it gets thrown up if someone has nothing better to do, but that's rarely the case...

maybe the abilities shouldn't be touched but hives should go up faster, so that it's possible to get the 3rd up earlier?  that would make a kind of 'hive rush' more feasable... and marines would actually have to be nervous about early xeno and stuff...

...not that the marines don't have enough to worry about already...
