General / Dystopia demo
« on: September 12, 2005, 08:20:41 AM »
Read the New Player Guide, seems pretty easy to pick up. Howeve,r playing the other night with Redford and others I think I'll try a larger server until I learn the map. A nub who has no idea where to go on a 3 man team doesn't do well for his teammates :p

I do like this concept. I may even take some time and try to create a map for it. I don't know, but if this becomes a free mod, LM should think about it. But I'm looking forward to some user maps to give more than the same map over and over.

General / Re-Institution of Reg/RS Night
« on: September 07, 2005, 01:41:21 PM »
I'm not going to vastly change the hide n Seek dynamics for this week. but it's all something to look into. I have altered the rules to allow only 2 mines per marine or per hiding spot.

I updated the initial post. The reason I moved this to General instead of the RS forum is that I know we need to increase participation all around, so we're opening up some of our activities to a wider audience.

You are welcome to join.

OK, so rad's been on vacation.
So it hasn't been much of a vacation. I got a second (and third) job, had another kid, got robbed, and finally settled into my new routine (except the whole robbery thing).
Now, it is time to re-institute the reg night. there will be no discussion on when the first one will be held, because it's the only time I can do it this time, but then we'll open it up to debate.

Without Further Ado...

Please support this, not only in speech, but in action. Play on the server nightly, many of us are beginning to try to get games going again. Use IRC or other communication (these boards, X-Fire (list), Google Talk, anything. Other communities are struggling too, but the only way to get it back is to get involved.

Well, I had an opposite experience.

I've been having ping and latency problems for a LONG time. We thought we had ironed all the problems out, when I began getting a 4% packet loss ALL THE TIME.

Technician came back out (on a Saturday) and tested the lines all the way to the Carrier station. He found that there was some bad copper lines near my house. So he told me he would have to replace that.

That was a month ago. I got a bit irate that I haven't had any changes in performance, and that I still can't play online games without major packet loss. So I call the phone company to complain that I haven't heard anything. They gave me three months credit and informed me as to why it has taken so long.

It seems they are going to replace 3 miles of cable, and install a new carrier station. All because I complained of slow DSL. I love my phone company.

Go go Farmer's Telephone!

Well, if you'd stop taking computer advice from Fewl, this wouldn't happen all the time.

Must restrain from having mid life crisis this soon....

Funny, I saw it on Reuter's Oddly enough headlines, the same place you find things about a husband who left his wife at a gas station in Italy and drove 6 hours without noticing she wasn't in the car (here)

So, it was odd not to see this on front page, but I guess people want to keep this under wraps. here the link I have: Clickeh!

NEWER credit can be viewed as badly as bad credit. If you simply dno't have much credit, or haven't had it for a length of time, it can be used against you too. Although not giving you credit b/c you have new credit, so in turn you can't establish credit is dumb IMHO.

Does it seem odd to anyone else the the top two topics for the past two days involve a chubby little baby and terrorism?

Ignoring the ignorance of LC's Tim Burton comic type movie comment (seeing as TB only did the first two, and they were VERY dark, it was Schumaker who ruined them), I agree with most of what's said. It was a great film, and the explanations were enough without being over the top (midichlorins anyone?). The tech was altered from prototypes, and the storyline was a bit predictable, but good. It evened opened the door to why the villians of Batman are a little over the top (gas plus gordon's assessment at the end).

Now, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I'm happy.

The Aliens also waited so long for invasion because they need BLOOD. The human population was at its highest, its like what.. over 6 billion people in the world today or some bogus number like that?

Haven't read any further, but here's an interesting fact. There are more people alive today than people that have died over all of history. In other words, if every person in the world decided to pull a Hamlet, there wouldn't be enough skulls in the world for every one. Kinda freaky when you think of it...

Carry on.

I saw the movie, pretty good, nothing amazing. I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise, but the thing that made the move for me were the human dynamics. It's true though, the part with the ferry. Masses of people are dangerous...

If a building is on fire, and you go to the inhabitants one by one, they'll walk out calmly. Tell a whole crowd at once, and they'll stamped and try to kill each other to escape.

Now that I'm about to get into doing my job, i won't have time to have IRC up. But the second job is murder. Well, that and waiting for this child to be born...

And the fact that BF2 lags to heck and is unplayable half my day on ranked servers...

Welcome to AMX-X. It's only a test right now, but we admins like it. I'm not a big NS'er anymore, but I'll be around to buryteam from time to time. The hit reg problem seems to have disappeared AKAIK, so test it for any troubles. GJ to Dev/null and LB for getting this done.
