it is not a big bother but one of the tiny things that i get over quickly a civ not like i say anything at all in game but at least if the rines had the 9th player they'ld have 8 people in field is all i was really saying ;)
But in larger games the commander's ability to support his troops anywhere on the map offsets the fact that he cannot go out into the field himself.

One thing i don't like to see is when teh server is full of rs holders, which means all 17 slots are in use, that the aliens usually end up with 9 players when in reality the rines should have the 9th player not the aliens  <_<
The aliens are as much entitled to the extra player in a 17 player game as the marines.  It is only in smaller games that the marines' need for a commander actually puts them at a disadvantage.

Well, I've heard that this problem is caused by a low cl_cmdrate, so check that.

What's your cl_cmdrate in NS?

At the beginning of the game, I almost always run off to a strategically important region of the map.

Hello, Scooter.

Also, I might mention that CoFR FR31NS is actually still alive.

I'm pretty sure it's that specific area on the map that allowed me to exceed the 8-per-area chamber limit, as I was able to duplicate the forest in the same spot in a later game.

Why build a wall when you can grow a forest?

Right in the beginning of the game ask "Who's got the hive, who's got the DC's, who's got the Fade?"

After 3 volunteers have been picked, tell everyone else to put down the res nodes and reskulk.
That is not an ideal plan.  In an 8 versus 8 game, that means 5 nodes are dropped, but it is unrealistic to expect to hold 6 nodes in the early game.  Also, a single Fade is rarely sufficient against a competent marine team.  3, or at most 4 players should drop nodes in the beginning.

General / Whats Your Sensitivity!?
« on: May 03, 2004, 04:20:34 PM »
Actually, I just realized I had mouse acceleration enabled.  I normally disable it, but I recently switched to another computer and forgot to disable it.  With mouse acceleration disabled and sensitivity adjusted to compensate, my sensitivity is now 180 degrees per inch as marines and 216 degrees per inch as aliens.

A single leap doesn't last for one second.
The duration of leap may be longer than you think.  I have damaged hives with it long after I thought it had expired.

So no, Uranub, if you can properly use it, leap can be quite powerful indeed. :)
The damage really isn't the reason leap is useful.  It does 80 damage per second, whereas bite does about 180.  It is useful because of the speed it provides.

Charge is also useful for that reason.

Leap can still kill in one click, right?  (assuming that constant contact is made)
According to the manual it deals 80 damage per second.

Flaynub decided that this wasn't fair and that both abilities should blow.
In terms of the damage they deal, I would assume you mean.  Leap and charge are both enormously powerful abilities, but not for their damage.

General / My Thoughts On Blink

i hate one thing about the current blink: you don't need energy to stay in the air. try it out folks, blink into the corner of a ceiling, hold down your attack button, and you will never come down. i don't think it should be like that. when you run out, you should fall to the ground.
I just tried that, and it didn't work.  I kept falling to the ground.  I also distinctly remember it not working when I was blinking around in the landing pad area outside the marine start on Hera.

It depends.  There are two different definitions for "civilian."  The one that applies to me would be "A person following the pursuits of civil life, especially one who is not an active member of the military or police."

General / Whats Your Sensitivity!?
« on: April 29, 2004, 06:36:20 PM »
In NS, I have my sensitivity set so that a one-inch sideways movement of the mouse turns me 360 degrees.  In CS I have it set significantly lower, but I'm really unaccustomed to using a low sensitivity.

I doubt they actually unburied themselves directly into the readyroom, as the readyroom is usually off in a corner and thus would require more than just vertical movement to reach.
