I think that a lot of the better players and better team players are tired of some of the h8 that goes on.  Also, when you don't take care of those players and cater to them as they are what makes a good server, while catering to a different audience via RS and admin, they leave so you get the type of player the RS and admins are.  Also, the hostility toward clanners and the like is annoying.  If you want a server full of people without fire and zeal, and you keep making those that have it unwelcome (or people who are just better than you, ie. Solid Snake), then you will have a server of weak livered, worthless gaming.  Or just an empty one, like what is happening now.

A comm can only do so much.  Rine knowledge, competence and ability to follow orders are WAY more important than comm.  Comm is important, however, only to a beginning extent, to get to the difference from a good loss to a win is on the rines.

Hahahahahahaha.  If that was the solution to all the problems we wouldn't have any maps to play in.  I second that notion.  Lets remove all maps from map cycle that have some sort of problem.  I will start vote with ns_tanith, because in fusion hive it is too easy for guy to get on the diagonal barrier and spawn camp.

I play NS because I love competition and the winning and losing which results.  Competition is fun, and so is getting better so the winning happens more often.

Now I know someone is going to flip out and say it's not about winning, but the question states what our NS addiction is, not why we play on LM.  If it wasn't about winning, then the game would have been designed so alien and marines live in peaceful coexistence and would play patty cake instead of trying to rip each other's faces off.   :p

My two cents:  sometimes it seems like admins us LM as their personal ego boosting grounds.  Overall, most are good, but a couple break the rules just as much as anyone else.  This is my favorite community, but I have found that it has changed dramatically just since I have been here.  Maybe we need a bing internal cleaning as there seems to be a new wave which is active in LM, while the old wave is largely gone.  I'm rambling, but there are some points to this.  Peace all.

When I am, I am at what I see and not where hit boxes will be.  I hate it when you bust a sg clip in a skulks face and nothing registers and you die....hitboxes baby, all hitboxes and more perfect hitboxes.

HAHAHA, that is so awesome.  I drive a lot on fast two lane highways and you can't seem to go fast enough.  People just try to push you.  I wish we had cops around on a consistant basis so I could try this.  Legion ftw.

I originally played this server because FF rocks.  You have to aim, you have to pick targets, you cannot spam.  This to me mean sa lot more fun.  Go FF.

Rines don't pay attention to comm and do not follow orders while working together as a group and cohesive team.  That's it.  Simple.  There is no need to nerf aliens or make rines ultra powerful for this reason.  Sure, even in match play it is lopsided a bit, but I firmly belive that it results from exceptional individual play on alien part (ie. Fades own.)

Expanding this a little bit:

The game boils down to one thing, something that we as a gaming community have largely lost sight of...keeping res flow up and the other team's flow down.  This is just about impossible without teamplay.  

Expanding this a little bit:

No longer is the focus of games to destroy, take and keep rts (all of which involves massive teamplay); rather the focus is to take hive locations.  Rts are just a means with which to do this.  I believe the focus needs to be shifted.  After all, even if aliens have two hives...if they don't have higher lifeforms, then HA or JP own, especially with full upgrades.  Even just SG/HMG own.  You usually end of killing fades at least once, expecially when pressuring hives.  If res is at a premium, the problems of having to fight 8743 fades is solved.  I am not saying that one should let aliens have 3 hives while destroying res, rather I am saying that rts are more important in my mind to destroy then hives.  Think, how many times have you had a two hive lockdown to have it lost to one measly MC rush with a couple of fades or an onos...That hurts.

Now, exanding this further to new issues in the newest Beta:

Lots of Rts were removed from maps.  Mainly the ones outside of MS.  Due to this fact, without hardcore teamplay and following of orders, keeping rine res flow up and alien res flow down is all but impossible.  BHAM, the real issue of the Beta has been identified, rine inability to match alien res flow.  It is not due to the res flow system, rather it is due to the physical process.

Recap:

No teamwork/order following lead to --->  No emphasis on RT destruction and/or protection leads to --> Increased difficulties with new resource node layout --> utter marine ownage.
