... with a horribly swollen right arm.

Hihihi. I went skiing from last Friday to today at Breck, had a great time, until two days ago. Was going down a black when some horrible, horrible person decided to make a combination of a field of moguls, solid ice, and trees. Some airborne screaming of 'oh :D' occured, I go sliding into the woods and wake up waist-deep in snow with a throbbing right arm and I'm twisted around a tree.

Long story short, I'm lying in the snow for 10 minutes frozen unable to move, finally someone comes and I flag them down, I get to come down in a stretcher. Basically all I had was one HELL of a beat-up right arm (no break yay) and a mild concussion. Fun fun fun. I can move fingers but wrist rotating action isn't very actiony, and moving the elbow isn't exactly fun.

So ya.

Well yeah, open beta is coming around. Since I mooch off my friend's FP account I get to play now, playing Alliance on Test Server 12 Mountain Time.

It seems that there's a group of NS players playing undead on another server, but nuts to them, since most of the NS people I can't stand on the forums much less in-game, I invite anyone to join me instead. It seems that for some stupid reason several of you are playing undead because you're closet necropheliacs or some other equally dumb reason, because undead are probably the least interesting race next to gnomes.

So anyway, yeah. Just because I can, they added an awesome movie to the client that's fun to watch, I got some screencaps from it just for the hell of it.

The ads looked interesting but I'm a discriminating buyer. Since I really don't put much stock in some 'reviewer' who may or may not be paid to 'put in a good word' I want to know if anyone here has it yet.

Is it good? What are the downsides (every game has 'em so if you tell me it doesn't you're full of crap :p)?

Thanks.

Okay, I have some questions and I want answers!

After each item, in your reply, number the answer and write out what you're reading the sentence as as you read it. Pretty easy. Do not go back and re-read the sentence when you've read it through. Write what you read it as the first time through. If you read a certain part of the sentence a certain way, be sure to write it out. When reading punctuation, put it in brackets. If you don't actually read the punctuation, do not put it in the brackets.

Example:

1) Bob, my neighbor, has a new truck... even though his old one works fine.

Answer:

1) I read it as 'Bob [comma] my neighbor [comma] has a new truck dot dot dot even though his old one works fine[period]'

Now for the questions!

BE SURE YOU ARE NOT CHEATING! ONCE YOU READ IT THROUGH, OR START READING IT, DO NOT READ PREVIOUS PARTS AGAIN.

1) I have $7.43

2) I enjoy eating mangos... even though they give me indigestion.

3) The problem with that solution, is that it costs a lot of $$$.

4) The $ variable used in that class does not match the previous one. You should correct it, but there is no time now.

5) The groceries cost me a fortune, nearly $85! I'm not shopping at that place again; they don't even have my favorite brand of rice anymore!

BE SURE YOU ARE NOT CHEATING! ONCE YOU READ IT THROUGH, OR START READING IT, DO NOT READ PREVIOUS PARTS AGAIN.

In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Blizzard Entertainment, we commend to Almighty Blizzard our sister Gilan; and we commit her body to the ground; earth to earth; ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The Lord bless her and keep her, the Lord make her face to shine upon her and be gracious unto her and give her peace. Amen.

I shot a lot of these with my roomate Adayar. He's the elf you see in a few of em.

This first set of shots was be celebrating I had reached Booty Bay, a pirate cove. It's easy for the Horde to get there, but a bit harder for Alliance. I had to walk all the way for about an hour and a half past all these super killer death gorillas, hidden jungle cats, and Naga.

I made it! Unfortunately I seem to be the only one. The place had nothing but NPCs in it, but considering how difficult it was, I wasn't surprised to see nothing but mainly Horde players walking around. They seemed pretty shocked to see a Night Elf. I think they were stunned by my sunglasses of awesome power.

There's a boat that makes rounds you can climb on. I did. Here's some pictures from the boat as it goes around!

Aye, here be pirates! He didn't feel like posing but I decided to. Stupid NPCs.

We arrived at our destination, Ratchet, a pirate town south of Orgrimmar. Here we caused lots of trouble and killed a handful of orcs and trolls stupid enough to check out what was going on.

So we were in the Barrens, or on the edge at least, decided to check out the area. Found a neat little canyon and I decided to take a nap.

This is us posing for a shot in front of Orgrimmar (The Orc Capital). We ran around there and caused trouble, and triggered the world event for the horde "ORGRIMMAR IS UNDER ATTACK!" That's an orc player I ate behind me. Funny story, I lured Horde to attack me by sitting still, facing one direction, set my /pvp on, setting myself to /afk and just waiting. Eventually a player would attack me (making himself vulnerable to attack) and I'd turn around and rip his face off with cat claws of fury.

The remains of my PCI fan that was running right under my Radeon 9800.

This is the back. I pulled the fan out and nearly burned myself on it, I had to pull it out with pliers.

1) That hole in the middle should be round.

2) Those other holes shouldn't be there.

Off Topic / I Am Back From Vacation...
« on: July 30, 2004, 06:55:02 PM »
1,204.6 miles later, I am back - Took a long-ass drive up through Wyoming (Contrary to what even I thought - if you go on the second road (There's only like 3) THROUGH the state instead of around the edges it's got some damn nice scenery) and into Yellowstone Nat'l Park.

For those nubcaeks that don't know, Yellowstone is pretty much the only Nat'l park where you can camp inside a non-dormant volcanic caldera (A caldera is a crater that is larger then 1km across). The mantle is only like 2 miles down, the result being one of the rarest of all features on earth - Hydrothermal springs: Water leaking down through cracks into rock that exceeds the boiling point (199 degrees F at that altitude).

Yellowstone has more geothermal features then anywhere on earth and makes up about 25% of all of them in the world - Basically, it's a hugely popular international tourist site.

To prove I actually went:

This is Grand Geyser - The worlds tallest PREDICATBLE geyser (The tallest in the park erupts anywhere from 4 days to 50 years... this one does it about every 8-12 hours). We walked in (In fact, all we saw erupt did so within about 10 minutes of our arrival) sat down, and it blew up. The actual vent it's coming out of has four different little 'tributaries' that come out of 4 places on the geyser crustal itself - There's the big main one, to the far left is a mainly steam jet that blasts out for a while, and between them (hard to see) there's a smaller churning one. The fourth is off to the right and while it normally churns and bubbles it shoots a few feet in the air when this goes. This geyser erupts for about 5 minutes. In our case, it went down and seemed to stop, then about 20 seconds later, you could feel a massive 'kerWHUMP' and it blew again. Fun stuff.

Grand Prismatic Spring - A very large, very deep, very blue hot spring. Hot springs are like geysers, but they have relatively unhindered plumbing - pressure doesn't build up and allow water to go above the boiling point and explode like it does in a geyser. The colors are caused be thermophiles - heat-loving bacteria. Generally from coldest to hottest (cold in this case being like 150 degrees or something) the colors go red - orange - green - yellow - white - blue. White has, obviously, no effect on the color of the pool. Blue means it's really really hot. This is very blue. Hence - hot.

The orange smears are caused by a bacterial mat of red thermophiles, and/or iron oxide (rust) being pulled up from the spring and being deposited. In this case it's a bacterial mat and not rust.

The hugely popular Morning Glory pool. This pool is shaped like a Morning Glory flower - It used to be blue through and through and was really damn cool - Except assholes decided to throw trash and crap into it and the vent has become clogged - the clog reduced hot water flow, and the pool cooled. The edges of it are now yellow as the temperature is lower. The blue thermophiles can't live and yellow can.

Me on top of a wooden platform above flow from a hot spring. Said flow is usually acidic (3.3 pH or lower) and can eventually dissolve neat shapes into rock. Generic hot spring steams up behind me. Also notice the trees are mostly short and young - In 1988 there was a massive fire that annihilated 36% of the park. The result is that most thermal areas are easier to see. Also, the areas around the thermal features are usually 'dead' and look strip-mined. This is because no plant matter can live in those areas - the thermal feature sprung up and the trees got a taste of toxic and burning water - they tend to die.

Earthquakes still plague the area and small shifts can drastically change a thermal feature's eruption time, length, or even if it erupts at all - it'll change temperatures, sometimes even cause it to drain. It's also suspected that someday the Yellowstone Volcano could erupt again and more or less annihilate a lot of... living things... and stuff...

Mapping / 'Ship' - Working Codename - Project Medusa
« on: July 16, 2004, 09:01:16 PM »
As some of you are aware, I've decided to make a 'Ship' map, since the developers are accepting submissions. I've spent the better part of tonight figuring out how the game works, and I think I've got a pretty good handle on it. I've yet to go into NPC nodepathing, but if it's anything like what I imagine it is, it shouldn't be too tough. Just a lot of work.

That said, the actual map hasn't started yet. I'm juggling several ideas I know I can do that would be all neat and cool.

First of all, I'm debating making it on a SPACE ship in the same form as 'Starship Titanic'. Which won't wholey be too tough. New skymap, no way to get outdoors, lots of windows.

I could do it in a Hotel style, but I'm aware there's 2 other Hotel-style maps being made right now.

If you have anything to tell me while I'm making this, well... tell me, because these maps are a HELL of a lot faster to make then an NS map. :D

LIMITED KEYS - GO GET IT AND WE CAN BE ALL LIKE 'WEEEEE'

Actually, it's just a fun game (not like the original Tribes, but I like it because it's differnet. All the whiney tribes1 bitches cried that it wasn't a clone). There's a lot of neat mods, especially the bizarre CONSTRUCTION MOD! (Quite possibly the most amazing take on deployable boxes I've ever seen)

« on: June 02, 2004, 09:03:33 PM »
I've toyed with the idea, and generally my complete ineptitude at anything is the second reason for lacking the appropriate images, but my first reason is more to the point, that I'm lazy and never seen a sig/avatar I've liked.

So what say the masses?

Off Topic / Van Helsing
« on: May 16, 2004, 08:28:14 PM »

Figure A.

A ninja (actually two ninjas, so it's like double the awesome). A ninja who may or may not have chopped off heads. I'm not sure. I just got a picture and ran like hell.

Figure B.

A guitar. On fire. The guitar could be playing like Jimi Hendrix too. Or Led Zepplin.

Figure C.

Corn. Ignore the fat kid eating it. Or orally molesting it. I'm not sure what the innuendo there is. Or don't ignore him. This is important. The corn is. Not the fat kid.

Figure D.

I don't know what this thing is, but it's got a fat guy next to a tall guy. I think they're nazis. I'm not sure. It really has nothing to do with the movie, I guess, I just thought it was funny. So it's here. But he's fat and there's a fat kid above it and fat people fall down and chase donuts, or so I'm told.

Figure E.

Some chick. I don't know what she's doing but she looks like she's gonna kick someone's ass because they pissed in her Wheaties. Also, she has bewbies. Which are always good. You can't beat bewbies.

Combine all figures together, and you'll get Van Helsing (except there's no fat nazis next to tall nazis).

I absolutely loved this movie. It was cheesy in some places, but in the same sense as X-Men, it was awesome. Like ninjas playing Jimi Hendrix on a flaming guitar while soving corn down the throats of fat nazis standing next to tall nazis who are hitting on chicks about to beat some fat kid's ass.

Or something.

Either way, it was pretty much non-stop action, the acting was great (great in the sense that you don't even think about if the acting sucked or not). The action was great, and really...

I don't think I've ever though werewolves were as incredibly awesome as they are until after I saw this film. And when Van Helsing defeated Dracula (I won't say how) I almost stood up and shouted ':DING PWNED, BITCH!' (Yes, it was that awesome)

If you're looking for complex plot, a love story or something beyond Absolut Asskicking ®, then you can go die. Because I liked this movie. And I don't like many movies.

Quote
<U235> It's kinda stupid-silly like XMen and Spiderman, but it has unbelievable amounts of assbeating in it
<U235> never have I seen so much ass beaten in such an awesome way
<U235> I guess Kill Bill was a lot of assbeating, but it was boring assbeating
<RaydenUni> i liked spiderman and xmen
<RaydenUni> i even liked Daredevil
<Grillkohle> kill bill sucks
<U235> amen

There, undisputed fact (No, I'm not saying I didn't like XMen or Spiderman. They were goofy films but they were still awesome. Like Van Helsing is awesome). Go see the movie. Now.

Please keep your signatures of small size. Size limits do not necessarially apply only to images. Dubbilex's massive sig of incredible excess is a great example of this.

(Since I can't make announcements, this is here for the time being)

Keep them much much smaller then this please.

General / Stop Hacking On The Damn Cs Server
« on: April 16, 2004, 05:31:51 PM »
Yeah, I'm not naming any names, but I was playing earlier today and saw someone run facefirst into a wall, stare at it, then fire a clip into the wall, reload, then hop around the corner and kill someone who was standing on the other side in that place.

According to JHunz he got pistoled down to 30 health on militia shortly after the match began, through a wall.

Seriously, stop it. This is your first, and only warning. Maybe you have CS hacks you never turned off. Maybe you think you're 'cool'. I don't care what it is, stop them now. Unless you want me to start spectating, and I will do it, and just like in Lunixmonster, we do NOT hold back punishments just because you're a reserved slotter. If I find you hacking I'll ban you, plain and simple. If you're acting suspicious such as jacked gamma (Running into a pitch black room, killing someone stationary in the corner, and running back out), then... that's just lame.
