Hey folks,

Glad to see ya'll again (and Niteowl still alive). We used to play so much back in the day. Jeez, when I was Ness I must have spent a whole summer playing NS. Man, Blaq, I played on a 56k for years and when I finally got onto DSL I was so much better. It was like weight training or something.

I was working at a famous casino down here in the south running tournaments, and made some connections. Now I am the operations manager at a rapidly expanding business that is somehow already worth a few million...and just a few years ago I was 18 and playing NS  :D. I don't have the time for games that I used to but I preordered NS2 the day it became available. As soon as this hitbox stuff and netcode is cleaned up in the alpha I'll be bumming around and reporting bugs with you all.

You know TF2 is really well balanced, because you hear everyone complaining about how every class is overpowered!

Open up your steam to see see an advertisement for The Ship! I can't believe this game went retail through steam. I remember playing it with everyone and going into spectator mode to kill everyone on the server. Wonder if they fixed that one.

When I leave bodies around, people come by and leave sassy comments! Too bad I'm running this on my 700 mghz, on a GeForce 2. Still a great game. Just hit the second island.

Everytime I talk to anyone about the movie, we end up bringing up the end Vader sequence at the same time and talking about how we couldn't help but laugh. I'm sorry, but him stumbling off the operating table like Frankenstein then shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOO" was poorly delivered and ended up hilarious. I loved everything else in the movie, especially R2D2 comedy relief scenes.

It's pretty important to realise that before it even gets to anything resembling that point, there are weeks or months of spontaneous discussions or complaints in the admin channel about whoever. Debates are held on a whim and left for later. Mentionings in posts, actions in-game, quick PMs from community regulars, the countless little things that eventually build up into a problem. It's very difficult to present one comprehensive anything for anyone we ban who's been toeing the line. It's hard or impossible to present proof for the 1,000 non-bannable things that change an admin's opinion of someone that can make an offense the last, or to even list them.

Thing is, who wins the arguments. Vinnie. Guess why, he'll argue, flame and swear at me as much as he likes, do i get banned for it? Yes. Does he? No.

****ing. Double. Standards.

<esuna> Vinnie-NS: i need to know, you actually are 14, right?
<Vinnie-NS> nope, not your age, sorry

The only reason it wasn't longer was because you provoked him first.

Meanwhile, in the admin channel....

Edit: Instead of posting things directly from the channel, it'll suffice to say that Vinnie was spoken to. Whoops.

Both you and Vinnie were wrong. Double standards, indeed. Honestly, I'm tired of people just assuming that nothing gets done because they don't see it.

Wait, but Lightning Blue decided on the creation of The Lunixmonster Staff account and set it up himself. Part of presenting a unified admin front and what I said earlier. I don't think he needs to hide much, since he's paying a few thousand a year to keep this place running.

Approved these two wonderful posts. The whole of the active admin staff was given a week to come up with any reasonable objections. Nobody could really think of anything, so that was that. There have been other discussions, and admins have come forward with decent reasons in those cases. The Lunixmonster Staff account was made to prevent people just blaming an admin with a grudge instead of taking a look at themselves and their actions.

Edit: Moving this to the Soapbox, since I can't be bothered to check here every 8 minutes and I know everyone and their grandmother will have an opinion on the inner workings of the admin staff, being experts and all.

General / Do NOT use Google's Web Accel
« on: May 05, 2005, 01:51:10 PM »
Google has recently come out with the seemingly wonderful Web Accelerator. Unfortunately, this caches everything you read and sends it to Google servers (Extremely condensed info, there). While this is fine for normal web browsing, do NOT under any circumstances use Web Accelerator while browsing forums or anything you want kept private. For example, on the Something Awful forums users are able to read other people's private messages due to them using Web Accel while browsing the forums. There could be many potential security issues with using this. I read about the problem there and am sharing this with you all.
