wow. that was horrible. so I start it up, I'm in char creation, all the NPCs are half buried in the ground, so I can't even customize my char right because I can't see his bottom half. I get through training, the game seems alright. I pick my apartment in friendly territory, I check it out, see that the computer doesn't work, so I leave my room. I immediately see 2 people ganking some helpless dude. I think, oh boy, I'm next. Of course, I was. I tried to run, tried to get back in the apartment teleporter. no dice. I'm dead. it takes about 5 minutes to respawn. when I have my 20 health and get the message that the cloning process is finally done, I try getting out of the tube, but I'm STUCK. I wiggle, jump, crouch, press different keys - nope. then, THE GAME CRASHES.
I want to burn the game to a CD just so I can set the CD on FIRE.

count me in with the group of people who just kinda faded out of this forum...
basically since I haven't played NS in a good long while, I stopped coming here... though I still spam the website formerly known as ns.org for my fake internet socialization needs.
I never really did the IRC thing more than just in passing, because for the most part, if I'm at the computer, I'm in a game.
I do miss the LM community though :> I should start up w/ teh NS again... maybe when the next version is officially released...

...a comment about creativity coming from, what, a night elf hunter? :lol: there's probably as many night elf hunters as there are HORDE on some servers... which reminds me, blizzard really needs to figure out how to balance pk rq... being outnumbered at least 3 to 1 on a pk server does not make questing all that easy... I was collecting snuff for a quest right outside of booty bay yesterday. needed 15 snuff from bloodsail raiders. got pk'd 17 times before I was done - with no one alliance person killing me more than twice...
they should put in planetside-style balancing til they figure out a better idea... if there's 3x as many alliance as horde on a particular server, horde should get like 50% more hp or stats

anyone remember Master of Magic? lesser-known civilization-like game, but it reigns as my favorite still... like civilization or alpha centauri, but fantasy-themed, with a hint of warcraft/RTS style economics... spells to research instead of techs... different cities had different races (humans, lizardmen, elves, etc) w/ different units and traits... and there were different schools of magic to specialize in (life, death, nature, chaos, etc)... heroes with special abilities, all units had experience levels... magic nodes to drain magic energy from (like resource nozzles) ;P a mirror world you can also colonize, with different races and stronger magics...
makes me all nostalgic
but I think I tried getting it to run on my computer and it just ran way too fast, or didn't work at all... and I didn't have the patience to slow it down just right with a moslow type proggie...
my fave thing to do was master all the life spells... which have the most buffs to cast on your units, and also the ability to summon the best hero in the game... to whom I would apply all the best buffs, and send him rampaging, taking down entire armies solo =P
ah well. hope SOMEONE remembers it... ;P

yeah, here comes the periodic relationship advice topic that really shouldn't be in a gaming forum but always seems to crop up. ;P
and the sad truth is I don't even know how to make myself look like the good guy.
my girlfriend is a decent guitarist, and she is just starting to play with a decent band - not one that just plays for fun in some garage, but one that's going to play famous clubs in NY and such. the drummer was in a band that opened for no doubt, etc...
I'm having way too much trouble dealing with it. logic dictates that I should be happy for her and supportive, but all I feel are negative things... the obvious ones like being threatened and jealous, for one thing... threatened because she doesn't have a history of being perfectly faithful, and her being in any sort of spotlight is more of an opportunity for her to screw me over... jealous because I don't do anything public like that... I used to want to be an actor, and I was pretty good at it, but I didn't pursue it because I was happy just to be with her instead...
which brings me to the third and biggest problem. it's just a life goal thing... all I ever wanted was to be with her; when I found her I stopped wanting anything else but to start a family with her and be happy with her. it really hurts me that she needs more than that. I mean, I'm fine with her playing the guitar for fun with friends or whatever, we all have our hobbies, but she's taking it too far for me...
so yeah, I feel threatened, upstaged, marginalized... what would you guys do if you were me? dump her and find someone with simpler wants and needs? shut up and deal with it? that's another thing - even if I COULD shut up and deal with it, I still wouldn't be happy about it, and I want her to be with someone who can be happy and proud about what she chooses to do with herself...
I love her a lot, and we've been through 6 years together, on and off... we've broken up over various things but always wind up back together... so if history says anything we'll probably still be together a month from now... but there HAVE been a lot of bad things in the relationship, and part of me says we should put the last nail in the coffin eventually, but we've never managed to do it...
I'm not a dumb guy and I'm definitely no chauvanist, but sometimes I wish I could just find a girl who's nice and quiet, who likes relaxed nights at home, going out with friends, etc, instead of one who feels the need to constantly be stirring up the muck on the bottom of this proverbial stream... and sometimes I feel she and I just stay together because we're scared of being alone...

I just saw my first lvl 40 char on gorefiend... nice felsteed ;p
just about to hit 25 myself... my guild is doing well though, 40ish members, I just bought us our tabard - gold octopus on maroon background :>
now if they'd only patch cosmos so I could get back in the game...
