I have a running theory that there is more to each scene that meets the eye. As my example, I will post the following from Dr. kliener's lab at the very beginning.
If 10x7 is too big I'm sorry and I'll scale it down.

feel free and post other cool little thingsyou have seen in teh game so far. im interested to see what else you guys found to be really cool.

i am hoping to see how deep this detail level goes and also in buying water mellons for headcrabs

I really enjoy the radio chatter from the combine troops.

Also, the bridge scene rules with awesomeness.

i think that if i slowed down for a bit from my curent pace there is a level of depth here that i have rarely seen, for example did any one read the clip board in black mesa east?  huge backstory help right there.

admit it at least part of it was intimidating the other geeks.:)

so pick up some  "leet haxor chick" ( to quote someone on the ns forums)

and you're like:  "hey baby  wanna check out my 21 in lcd?"
and she is all like "You SO dont have a 21 lcd!!"
and you lay it on  "baby, it will rock you world"
and so you take her home and three weeks later your first love child has wrecked havok on the NSA.
 
We all know.

I know thats why I bought the case I did. taht and it can be used toheat my entire appartment. in indiana. in winter. with the windows open.

( one would think the fact that it was a 2400$ monitor they might ship the parts but they are being asshats)

well, its basically done except i need to edit some textures (see the artwork form) and fix a button. it works it just displays the wrong messages. and few entity tweaks.

Playtesting

next i need to go and work on the lighting a bit.
follwing that i  need to make myself a mopbucket model for the bob. perhaps an obscure poster for his wall.

On a scale of one to huge it rates at least gimungus.

i am working on one bug, which is utterly inconsequential, so here is the current layout:



sorry about the black and white but the colors made it hard to see rt locations.

me sieging my own new hive. there is a wall in teh middle of the screen right next to the sieges, im not sure that was obvious. any way  enjoy

im running the same card but getting 100 fps, solid.(radeon 9800 pro256mb)

course my processor is a bit beefier(3200xp-64bit)
driversets are key for radeon cards.

i suggest the most recent one, casue it works ok for me, and if that doesnt help try an older one. some times the older driversets can do amazing things for hl frame rates.

also set ati_npatch to 0
and ati_(?div?) to 0
on that last one there are only 2 ati_ options and both should be set to zero
as well this will prevnt the puffy rt look and reduce model poly counts.

also what resolution are you running at, sometimes running at lower resolutions can be bad too.  try 800x600 and 1024x768 if you haven't.


finally in your bios check to make sure you have your agp aperature set to 8x, i know that my old main board really liked 2x and that wasnt a good thing

I am using the ns_remix wad which has been roundly criticized by the nsmapping community. While I generally ignore most of their input, this time it may in fact be valid.  So I have genitivally decided to remix the remix. I have gotten the author’s permission and am planning on edit the textures.

My problem is that I am utterly incompetent at making a good looking texture. The ones I have played with have come out looking like cartoons, which is not bad, but not really the object.

My object is to rework the ns_remix wad particularly the gray texture set. This would consist of adding details which would not interfere with the whole but merely ad to them.
I was hoping for some sort of help on how to make this and have it look good.

i only ask becasue all the tutorials i can find are like "download wally. now paste your hot new texture in. go man! go!" or "so you are a studio art major? first take a picture of your 14 square foot oil painting paste into wally and go man! go!"

i hope its clear what im trying to getat.. it might not be. i dont know.

To be honest with you, I think I probably should have kept with NSplayer my first day. But, well, it seemed like a good description of what I was on my first day, and why I was humping the arms lab. After that: I got lazy.

Previous to this i was known as PANTS!   simply cause the word is awesome, and if you put the exclaimation you have to yell it on voice comm.
