Off Topic / Somethin' Weird With My Monitor

I didn't know where to look for a tech help forum thingy in teh innarweb, so i figured you sexeh mahnpais should solve my problem.

TEH MONITAAR! = NEC Multisync FE750

It seems that the more bright colors being displayed on screen, thats when everything looks normal. However, the more dark pixels on screen, the darker everything becomes. If I were to say, open up paint and fill the entire space with black, the entire screen gets darker overall. It's not so much a problem around the web, but when I'm playing City of Heroes there are some areas that are practically pitch-black. I can only imagine what NS would look like.

This problem started yesterday, and before that day it was working fine. The only thing I had done the day before besides playing CoH was updating Zonealarm. The only way I know of to correct the problem is to surn my monitor off, then on again. This corrects the unusual darkness but only for a minute or so. I know it's not something life-threatening, but still it's pretty irritating.

i've never seen that but it sounds fun... i usually like to trap players by shooting arrows at their feet.

Contols umm... it's best to set your own I guess. Be warned though, it can be very buggy and theres always the risk of your character file being inexplicably deleted so back up your characters by copying their file and putting them somewhere safe. Just search around in the forums for help if something strage happens, which undoubtedly will happen someday.

Yeah, when I first learned your real age I was genuinely surprised. You just seem to act alot older than your age would have us think.

yeah, what was especially fun was being able to scale mountains by climbing the arrows fired into the walls. I mainly wanted to level just to raise my stamina so I could run longer and stuff... then run behind trolls and punch them in their back.

heh, I just played on the LAN so there was no cheating or stuff... just rampant fun and silliness =D

yeah I did too mostly, But playing online is part of the fun, then you can show off your character. Before i uninstalled I had a lvl 30 something guy I think. He had full knight armor and used a longsword and great axe most often.

but playing online... you usually have to deal with the people who hacked their charcter, which is why I always hosted my own game and banned teh haxxors

yep, true. I was supposed to do the voice acting for the NPC's and whatever for Mastersword, but I only got a few characters done for the Edana map before school whisked me away to the land of Not-much-free-time. And as I stated in that other thread, the lack of a coder to implement it and release newer versions didnt quite help my enthusiasm, so I've pretty much left the team while Im going to school here in the heart of downtown vancouver.

OC's are excellent if used right, and... SHORTEN'D! ... It doesn't dodge and it doesn't do a lot of damage. You are (hopefully) the opposite of this. 

I always find it a good idea to drop an OC or two at a hive going up. too many times have I seen a gorge run in to drop the hive, then run off leaving it undefended. I personally would never leave a hive being built unless it was being frequented by aliens or had 1-2 OC's up at least. All it takes is one marine to sneak into the hive undetected and put up a phase gate, or if they're lucky, a TF and a few turrets (i've seen it done). I generally put an OC or two by each entrance depending on the layout of the hive and the res I have. Make sure it can attack at various angles, meaning it can shoot at incoming marines and into the hive room if they try to sneak in.

Yeah, MS was uber fun to play for a while, but all the rampant cheating and lack of updates kinda made me lose interest... plus I never see any servers up for it anymore. While i was on the team it seemed like there wasn't alot of organization. The mappers were doing well with the remakes and new maps, but the effort in modeling was made towards weapons and not to monster models and such. The monsters needed work alot more than the weapons did. THe elf playermodel looked great though. Plus we were short a coder for a while so subsequent versions were nonexistant and we had a few people leave the team. meh.
