I'll just take this opportunity to petition for FF's removal. IIRC, it was only implemented in the first place to reduce the effect of the grenade damage bug (Where grenade launchers did hand grenade damage). However that bug was fixed long ago.

FF also introduces the onos-punt-without-doing-damage bug. Which is quite annoying.

I was afraid something like this would happen once FF was untied from tourny mode, that a server I was a regular on would turn it on and turn me off :p

This is the number one reason why I play on Kustom Kettle whenever there's players there; FF is annoying as hell, and doesn't add anything to the game but a hassle.

At the very least there should be a vote in the RS forum about if it should be kept or not. Cheez and I both hate it, and while I do hear lots of support for it, I'm hoping most people don't like it.

EDIT: That said, great post Esuna, I agree with it all, it's a great guide of how to play when one is forced to deal with the annoyance that is FF.

Umm, yeah, except, the problem is that there are not ENOUGH players. Probably because there's a password on the server.

If the server fills up and regulars want in then by all means put the password back on. But when the server is empty there's no reason to lock out non-regs, since then when the regs want to play there's nobody to play with.

Perhaps, when nobody is playing on the server or there's not a "community event" like a compstomp going down, the password could be removed. With the password on an empty server, it's very hard to just hop on and play in the middle of the day. When there was no password the server would be at least half full with random people, allowing for a drop-in game.

Why not rotate between them? There's only five maps after all, you'd go through all the game modes within a pretty short time, pleasing everybody.

I would have voted for one of the first two options if I hadn't accidentally voted null.

I love Combat and don't want to see it gone, and I also don't want a second server for it dividing the playerbase.

NS's default method might work, though I think it was more complicated than LB said above. This is how I thought it worked:

1) Time for map change
2) Is there a Combat map next?
3) If yes to 2, check if the playercount is right for combat
4) If yes to 3, change to scheduled combat map
5) If no to 3, skip combat map until next non-combat map in rotation
6) If no to 2, continue normally.

But if it's merely a simple play-combat-only-if-playercount-under-12, I'd vote for keep normal map rotation.
