I just wanted to know if anyone has had previous experience with CS.
I for one consider myself somewhat between intermediat and veteran. I've been playing religiously for at least 4years and am confident i can take almost anyone in this CS server.

I've played once, so I'm a total CS nub aside from what I played on April 1st. I was happy just to have gunned down some more experienced LM regs.
Regardless, I look forward to learning more. Just hope PD stays clean, all this talk of people asking LB for permission to "hack for fun" really turns me off.

I used to be a leader of my own clan back in the day, and have pwnt a fair amount of players.
But I rarely care or really attempt to play well nowadays, and am vastly inexperienced with nubbly 1.6
But yeah - I have experience :) CS is one of the things I cut my proverbial internet teeth on.

I raked in so many hours over a 2 year period I might as well have played for 6, like everyone else in my university =3
Probably rusty as heck now though and all the aiming has changed lots since my day... but if it's any indicator I got a 43 kill run before someone on the other team got a lucky headshot on me for my first death of the map ^^

I have played CS since Betas (with the zooming carbine ^_^ ) and I played steadily, although never in clans, never liked competitive playing. I got to be pretty damn good, then they released 1.4 and it all went downhill from there. I played the betas in 1.4 for a while and then switched to DoD to FA to TS, to NS, every once in a while, I'd pop into a CS game to see if it was worth playing yet, but I'd quickly return to NS. Although recently in the Penguin Down! LM server, it's been much better through playing with people I know <3 . I find that I'm not bad at all (as BOZO found out when the first round I play I get a one shot deagle HS kill on him :p ).
So yeah... I used to be a vet, but I'm only intermediately experianced with v1.5+

I've been playing off and on since about beta 3, but really got into it during 1.3 and started clanning it up. My team made a run to CAL-M and almost made it to CAL-I, but then NS came out and I started playing that instead. I'm nowhere near as good as I used to be, NS has completely ruined my twitch.

I've played CS so I'm not noob, but far from regular. On the bright side, even the AK feels as accurate as a sniper rifle compared to the LMG.

Have barely touched it in years, but its not hard to re-learn : Point the business end of your boomstick at the other guy. Its not rocket surgery, duh!

I still feel the silencer was a stupid change but I suppose they had to define it so it wasn't just the commando (my fave gun) for the CTs.
Last time I played they'd basically swapped the AUG and the Commando around in everything but name and model.

I have no idea where to aim or when to burst or when to hide behind a crate either. I just can't seem to hit anything but with a bigmomma gun of d00m.

Only time you might want to hold the button down for more than a milisecond is when they're practically point blank, even then controlled shots seem to work a bit better (at least back when I played)

I started CS from beta 4 but stopped at 1.0 because it got annoying. I just started again only cause my friend and I play it LAN but not too much.

Yes... I hakcs if you consider that I played over a 4 year period and in those years was in 3 clans. 2 of which I regularly played in OGL, CAL and CAL-M matches. If you consider those hakc, then I PROUDLY say, "I HAKC YOU ALL!!!" >:D <_<

i used to play cs/dod as much as i play ns/wc3 tft now. i'd have to say im pretty good.
never been in a serious clan
my little brother plays cs religously and is in CAL-M. if he were to join PD i guaruntee he would be banned for 'hacking'. he scares me.

Yes, we all enjoyed waiting 5 minutes for Seth, the last terrorist on a de_ map, to move his butt away from his campspot near spawn. It really made us appreciate him as a teamplayer, and a cool guy to play with :p

the only FPS i was ever ubar at, and i think taht was because i played against non-hardcore gamers, is Quake.
everything after that has been freaking downhill :(

I was pretty good (and I mean top of the scoreboard on pubs) right up until about the time when NS 1.0 came out. Between then and the time the LM CS server went up, I played probably 8 hours of CS total.

whatever salt, IHO de_dust is the worst map to ever be created for cs, i dont care if its the oldest or was once the most popular i never liked it
its the most linear piece of crap that exist in cs, it should be cut from the rotation
that and my team stinked and all died of headshots in less then 30seconds of round start, they wouldnt listen when i said " hey guys look we have 5mins to plant the bomb no rush we can wait out the first 2 mins then rush.... but nooo "
de_dust2 is not far behind although less linear it still needs a few improvments
oh and PS, LB reduce the c4 time from 5 hours to 35seconds pls

I used to be decent in CS, played it ever since it came out, at one point I was in a clan (though I honestly don't know how I got in..) then I stopped playing CS and my skills went downhill. Recently I've started going to this web cafe across the street from my school for some casual gaming (Read: CS playing.. all they ever play is CS ¬_¬) and my skills are slowly starting to return. My school rather sucks at CS, I played for the first time in a year and a half and I still do better than those who only talk about CS every waking minute, people challenged me to CS (why!? WHY!?) and well, I guess I'm currently ranked up there in my school... too bad that's not saying much. =/

To be fair, everything Grillkohle has said about Seth is completely true. No matter what his team is doing, he is camping by himself, usually with an awp. He's also constantly cursing on the mic.

Bob told me you guys had a Cstrike server, soooo I popped in a played for a few maps. Um Cs Experience.. Errr ehh.. umm.. I've been playing CS since I was 14.. I r teh 20 now soon to be 21 on Monday.. So I been playing this craphole of a game for about 7 years or so?
Started in 1.2 > played through 1.3 > CAL-M in 1.4/5(since the days of 1.4 were so short lived) > and now I just server hop in 1.6 >:D
Bob had to defend me from everyone, they all called me hax0r when I played :(

Not when CS is involved. I've noticed over the last few days that tensions tend to flare easily when things go downhill, and CS presents alot of "those" situations. It sucks that people are already starting to fight because of what goes on in PD.
Hell, even I lost my patience. CS is fun, and im trying to learn all the odds and ends as quickly as I can, but sometimes the mistakes pile up, and your teamates are completely unforgiving. You just gotta step back when the rage starts boiling, and let yourself cool off.
CS has an infamous history of LAN party fights and other such rage induced confrontations as im sure we're all aware of. And on that note, we're a community of friends right? Let's play like we are, at least, thats what I think we should be doing instead of insulting each other on a message board. o_O

Yes, that's right. It's a diversion that we play to have fun. It has no more impact on your life than that. Unless any of us are practicing for the CPL and planning to make a living doing it (uh... no) then playing this game will have absolutely no impact on our greater lives. When you type quit in console and get up to do that pile of laundry you've been neglecting for so long, it's not going to matter if you gave or recieved 100 headshots that day.
What DOES matter in the long run, and the reason we have this community, is that we all like to meet entertaining people who share common interests and spend time with them. Whether we're playing games or chatting on IRC or posting random stuff on these forums, what we're doing is making friends. Try and downplay that if you want to, but I know that if it weren't for the people that are here, LM would have been nothing more than another random pub to me. There's a reason we keep coming back to play with the same people time and time again, and it's got nothing to do with awp skills or fade skills. So think about that the next time you want to hurl insults at someone just because you don't like their playing style. (or hurl insults back at someone that's flaming you) And then think about clicking on The Lunixmonster in your server list and seeing "You are banned." pop up every time. It's not really worth it in the end, is it?
Now. Be NICE. :D

I haven't played the new NS, but I don't believe they ever set up their models to have moving mouths with the mic. Its a neat and funny feature but it eats FPS and I don't think they wanna waste the time to recode their models :p

Just add a bit of mesh here and then some stuff to the .qc file and whoosh it'll work.
I mean the customs are using it....

lollerskates, CS doesnt even exist for 7 years. Half-Life was released in 1998 afaik, and 1.2 was definitely more than 1 year after CS released. :D

I dunno bout that mang, I remember having it and playing it around that time, and also playing Quake in that era as well.. Maybe it is true that your mind does go away when you get older :blink:

Not all CS crowds get that way, but the only way I know to keep order when CS is involved is constant, unflinching use of the "Ban Cannon". There is almost no such thing as too many bans. I don't envy the job of the people who have to make the decisions, but new players are easier to find then clean communities, and only the admin's vigilance keeps the impending chaos at bay. The alternative to the loss of the "llama" getting banned is the eventual death of the community.
May the llama's be banned, and banned again every time they show back up with a new key. May civility reign. Peace, Love, and Brotherhood. Yada, Yada, Yada ... <-click-clack-> <BOOM> "Awww put a sock in it squats..."

After 2 minutes research:
The first Counter-Strike beta was released in fall 1999, and the Counter-Strike version 1.0 was released 11/09/2000. That means, you can be playing CS for a maximum of 3 years, 7 months and 21 days (if you started playing CS right the day 1.0 was released. :D).
*edit* Just read your post again, saw that you started in 1.2. ->
1.2 was released 06/30/2001, do the math yourself this time :)

The only game I consistently play is CS. I'm one of those rare CS players that isn't thirteen, loaths hacking and absolutely hates team stacking. I enjoy this server because those things rarely happen. I have noticed some team stacking but I understand no one wants to lose. If you are that good at CS you could help the other team though. I would suggest is using the auto-assign key when choosing teams. Regardless of whether or not you like T, the CT's could us a little help sometimes. Choosing the team w/ the disadvantage and winning the round makes you a much better player. Unfortunately, you can win w/o teamwork but its much easier to accomplish the objective if you work together!

I just find it odd that no one has a problem when they are on the stacked team, but the second they are against the stacked team is WAY unfair. I'll do my best to keep teams fair, but the more you bitch about it the less I want to be on your team. Myself and 2 of my other friends who have been playing consistantly will do our best when we play to keep the teams even. ;)

I'm brand spankin new to counterstrike. i played it a little bit before, and i recall having the same problem now i had before... you have to be REALY determined to play with guys that rape you every time.
I used to have the same problem with quake 3 arena too. you realy can't play recreationaly and be any good at it, you have to play non stop, getting killed every few seconds and not killing anybody, before you can start to pick up on good stratagys.
i'll get better, i'm just lil slow :-P

OMG. Its good to know there are still people out there that share my point of view. I thought 99% of CS players were retarded. I agree with admojostrator complety, people should listem to your advice more often. I too am a CS veteran. I will be spending more time on the forums teaching TEH n00bs the ways of CS. So guys, if you need any advice regarding CS, come talk to me. B)

I bet that's one advantage that us NS players have. We're quite used to melee combat. Knifing someone is just like skulk bite or fade swipe or onos gore. It's a melee attack, and that's one thing we know how to do really well!
